Pink Line (Montreal Metro)
The Pink Line (french: Ligne rose) is a new subway line proposal for the Montreal Metro in Quebec. First proposed by municipal councillor Sylvain Ouellet in September 2011, the Pink Line in its current form was a "central campaign promise" of the mayoral campaign of Valérie Plante, leader of the political party Projet Montréal and now mayor of Montreal. The project was proposed to be finished by 2025, at a cost of an estimated C$5.9 billion. The project has since been added to Quebec's 10-year infrastructure plan, and feasibility studies for the line's western section began in June 2021. The proposed route of the line would traverse many Montreal neighbourhoods. It would start in Montreal North, and travel southwest through the city, with connections to the blue line extension, Mont-Royal metro station, and Place-des-Arts station. Lachine () is a borough (''arrondissement'') within the city of Montreal on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It was an autonomous city until the municipal mergers in 2002. History Lachine, apparently from the French term ''la Chine'' (China), is often said to have been named in 1667, in mockery of its then owner René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle, who explored the interior of North America trying to find a passage to China. When he returned without success, he and his men were derisively named ''les Chinois'' (the Chinese). The name was adopted when the parish of Saints-Anges-de-la-Chine was created in 1676, with the form Lachine appearing with the opening of a post office in 1829. The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA; french: Centre Canadien d'Architecture) is a Architecture museum, museum of architecture and research centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. E-Commerce Place (french: Cité du commerce électronique) (CCE) is an office complex of two towers located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located on René Lévesque Boulevard, René-Lévesque Boulevard West between Mountain Street and Lucien L'Allier Street in Downtown Montreal. It derives its name from the fact that its construction was part of a program grant from the Government of Quebec to promote the development of employment in the field of information technology. The complex provided incentives to firms specializing in electronic commerce. Montreal Central Station (french: Gare centrale de Montréal) is the major inter-city rail station and a major commuter rail hub in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Nearly 11 million rail passengers use the station every year, making it the second-busiest train station in Canada, after Toronto Union Station. Complexe Guy-Favreau is a twelve-storey building complex containing Canadian government offices built in 1984. It is located at 200 René Lévesque Boulevard in Ville-Marie, Montréal and extends over a six-acre plot of land, formerly part of the Montreal Chinatown. The complex is named after Guy Favreau, a former MP, federal cabinet minister and briefly Quebec Superior Court Justice. The building complex came about as a joint venture between the federal government, who served as the head of the project, as well as private businesses, the City of Montreal, and the Desjardins Group. Ville-Marie is the name of a borough (''arrondissement'') in the centre of Montreal, Quebec.
