Pink Lady (1981 Album)
is a three-record greatest hits album by Japanese duo Pink Lady. The album was released on March 21 1981, ten days before their farewell concert. It contains the duo's singles and B-sides from 1976 to 1981, as well as previously unreleased tracks. The original LP release featured a silver embossed sleeve and exclusive photos of the duo. are a Japanese female pop music duo of the late 1970s and early 1980s, featuring Mie (Mitsuyo Nemoto, born March 9, 1958) and Keiko Masuda (formerly Kei, born September 2, 1957). In Japan, they are remembered for a run of pop-chart hits from roughly 1976 to 1979, but in the United States, they are best known for their short-lived 1980 NBC TV variety show '' Pink Lady'', later released on DVD under the title ''Pink Lady and Jeff.'' is Pink Lady's eighth single release, and their seventh number-one hit on the Oricon charts in Japan. The single sold 1,600,000 copies, and was number one for eight weeks. It also peaked at number-one on the Japanese Music Labo chart. According to Oricon, this was the third best selling single from 1978. "Catch Lip", the B-side song, was used for commercials promoting Snow Brand's Hōseki-bako ice cream. The song was performed on ''Pink Lady and Jeff'' along with "UFO," making those two the only Pink Lady songs to be performed on the show. A re-recorded version of the song was included on the 2-disc greatest hits release, ''INNOVATION'' released in December 2010. is the 15th single by Japanese duo Pink Lady, released only five days after their previous single " Kiss in the Dark". The song was produced by Robby Adcock, and was recorded in Los Angeles. The 12" single featured an extended remix of the song, which has subsequently been released on the 2006 ''"Pink Lady Platinum Box"'' as "Monday Mona Lisa Club - Special Disco Version". John D'Andrea is an American television composer, arranger and music writer. Biography D'Andrea, as a boy, was interested in being a musician, due to his father's career playing the saxophone in local New Jersey bands, because of this, his father gave him a saxophone for his ninth birthday. Years later, D'Andrea attended the Arts High School for music and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Michael Jeffrey Lloyd (born November 3, 1948) is an American record producer, arranger, songwriter and musician. After working with Mike Curb, Kim Fowley and others in the mid-to-late 1960s on musical projects including the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, and Steven Spielberg's first short film, ''Amblin''', he became a producer of such teen idol pop stars as the Osmonds, Shaun Cassidy and Leif Garrett in the 1970s. is the 14th single released in Japan, and the first single released in the United States, by Japanese duo Pink Lady. The song was recorded for their debut American album '' Pink Lady''. The duo debuted the song in May 1979 on a Leif Garrett TV special. The song's peak position in Japan on the Oricon chart was 19, and on the American Billboard charts was 37. This was the first release of the duo to fail to make the top 10 in Japan. In addition to the all-English version of the song which was a hit in the U.S., Pink Lady recorded a bilingual version for the album ''We Are Sexy'', with the chorus in English and the verses in Japanese. The B-side of the single is a cover of The Left Banke's "Walk Away Renée". Chinfa Kan
(born June 24, 1953) is Japanese lyricist of Korean descent. Biography Chinfa Kan was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan as a second-generation Zainichi. He graduated from Shizuoka Prefectural Hamamatsu-Nishi Senior and Junior High Schools. While attending Waseda University, he took up tanka writing and participated in the college's short song festivals. Kan made his debut as a lyricist in 1979 with Ann Lewis' "Shampoo", which was composed, arranged, and produced by Tatsuro Yamashita. He then wrote numerous hit songs with Tetsuji Hayashi. Kan also wrote lyrics for artists such as Hiromi Go, The Checkers, Agnes Chan, Akina Nakamori, Kyōko Koizumi, Anri, Miho Nakayama, KinKi Kids, Mika Nakashima, and BoA. Victor Willis
Victor Edward Willis (born July 1, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He is the founding member of the disco group Village People. He performed as their lead singer and was co-songwriter for all of their most successful singles. In the group, he performed costumed as a policeman or a naval officer. The son of a Baptist preacher, Willis developed his singing skills in his father's church. With training in acting and dance, he went to New York and joined the prestigious Negro Ensemble Company. He appeared in many musicals and plays, including the original Broadway production of ''The Wiz'' in 1976 and subsequently, the Australian production. is Pink Lady's twelfth single, released in May 1979. It peaked at number six on the Oricon charts and number five on the Japanese Music Labo chart. It was the duo's first single to not be written by Shunichi Tokura and Yū Aku. The song is a cover of the Village People's " In the Navy," but with rewritten Japanese lyrics that have nothing to do with the original content of the song. In the song's chorus the lines ''"In the navy"'' have been replaced with ''"Pink Lady"'', and ''"They want you as a new recruit"'' with ''"I want you, you want Mie/I want you, you want Kei"'' (referring to group members Mie and Kei). In the same year, singer Teppei Shibuya released his cover version of "In the Navy" as in his cover album of the same name.
