Pingguoyuan Station
Pingguoyuan station () is a station on Line 1, Line 6 and Line S1 of the Beijing Subway, located in Pingguoyuan Subdistrict, Shijingshan District, Beijing. The station for Line 1 was opened on April 23, 1973. Pingguoyuan station on Line 1 is closed for renovation from April 18, 2020 to late 2023. The station for Line 6 and Line S1 was opened on December 31, 2021. The Line 1 station and Line 6 station are underground, and the Line S1 station is elevated. Station layout The line 1 of Pingguoyuan station has two underground side platforms and both are the only two platforms of Beijing Subway stations that haven't installed platform gates due to the aging of platform devices. The station for Line 1 is closed for renovation, and the platform gates will be installed after the renovation is finished. Shijingshan District
Shijingshan District () is an urban district of the municipality of Beijing. It lies to the west of the urban core of Beijing, and is part of the Western Hills area, bordering the districts of Haidian to the northeast and east, Fengtai to the south, and Mentougou to the west. The district consists of 9 subdistricts of Beijing's city proper. Although the hills around Yunju Temple may also be called ''Shijingshan'', they have Chinese characters different from those of the district and hence are unrelated to Shijingshan ''District''. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Line 1 (Beijing Subway)
Line 1 of the Beijing Subway () is the oldest and one of the busiest lines of Beijing's mass transit rail network. Line 1 runs underneath Chang'an Avenue, the city's grand east–west thoroughfare, right through the heart of Beijing with stops on either side of Tiananmen Square. Line 1's color is red. Line 6 of the Beijing Subway () is a rapid transit rail line in Beijing. The line runs from Jin'anqiao in Shijingshan District to Lucheng in Tongzhou District. It serves important residential areas such as Changying, Chaoqing, and Dingfuzhuang, in addition to important commercial and business areas such as Financial Street, Beijing CBD and the sub-administrative center in Tongzhou District.
