Philippe Pinel
Philippe Pinel (; 20 April 1745 â€“ 25 October 1826) was a French physician, precursor of psychiatry and incidentally a zoologist. He was instrumental in the development of a more humane psychological approach to the custody and care of psychiatric patients, referred to today as moral therapy. He worked for the abolition of the shackling of mental patients by chains and, more generally, for the humanisation of their treatment. He also made notable contributions to the classification of mental disorders and has been described by some as "the father of modern psychiatry". After the French Revolution, Dr. Pinel changed the way we look at the crazy (or "aliénés", "alienated" in English) by claiming that they can be understood and cured. An 1809 description of a case that Pinel recorded in the second edition of his textbook on insanity is regarded by some as the earliest evidence for the existence of the form of mental disorder later known as dementia praecox or schizophreni ...

Raquel Pinel
Raquel Pinel Sáez (born 30 August 1994) is a Spanish football forward currently playing for Alhama CF in the Primera División. She previously played for Sporting Huelva, Sevilla and Valencia. Club career Pinel made her debut at 15 years of age for Real Jaén. She later joined Sporting Huelva from which she transferred to Valencia in 2011. For Valencia, she won an individual award in the 2012 COTIF Women's Football Tournament, being awarded top scorer for scoring four goals during the tournament. For the 2013–14 Primera División season, she moved to Sant Gabriel, where she would stay for one season. After that, she joined Aldaia, where she would be a regular for the first team. Aldaia never achieved promotion to the Primera División during her time there and, in 2018, she transferred to top tier club Sevilla. Germain Pinel
Germain Pinel (Paris, c.1600 – October 1661) was a French lutenist and composer. Biography His father Pierre Pinel was himself a lutenist, like several other members of the family (especially his younger brother François Pinel) and his three sons Jean-Baptiste, Jean and Séraphin. Germain was quoted as master of lute in 1630. He entered the service of Marguerite of Lorraine Duchess of Orléans in 1645. From 1647, he was called to teach the lute to the young Louis XIV, aged 9. He was one of the musicians of the King's Chamber for the lute and theorbo from 1656 on. With wages of up to 2000 livres tournois, he was one of the leading musicians. His succession shows that he had a very comfortable lifestyle. In 1658, his post passed to his son Séraphin, who, despite his promising debut, no longer appeared as a lutenist after his father's death in 1661. Marcel Pinel
Marcel Pinel (8 July 1908 — 18 March 1968) was a French professional footballer who played as a centre-half and centre-forward. He was a France international. Biography Born in Honfleur, Pinel started at the club in his home town, Honfleur, and after being transferred to Paris Université Club and Stade Français, in 1925, he joined Red Star Olympique where he played centre-forward and centre-half. At this time, he played for France seven times (1930) and scored four goals. These four goals were scored against Belgium in two games (two doubles). His first cap came against Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, which resulted in a 3–2 defeat, but this match is not recognised by the French. Therefore, his first official selection came against Czechoslovakia in a 3–2 loss in Colombes. François Pinel
François Pinel (Paris, c. 1624 - 18 May 1709) was a French lutenist and theorbo player. His brother Germain Pinel, at least twenty years his elder, was himself a lutenist, like several other members of the family (including Germain's three sons: Jean-Baptiste, Jean and Séraphin). His name was mentioned in January 1656, when he participated with his brother Germain and his nephew Séraphin in a "ballet de Psyché" in front of Louis XIV, and composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Baptiste Boësset. They were part of a group of seven musicians whose game, that evening, "charmed the hearing" of the audience. He devoted himself to the theorbo but also to singing, and participated in the concerts of His Majesty's Chamber. In 1665, Lully was the godfather of his daughter Françoise. Suzanne Pinel
Suzanne Pinel, is a Canadian children's entertainer and former citizenship judge. Using the stage name Marie-Soleil, Pinel performed for twenty years, using stories and songs to teach the French language to kids. She recorded albums, releasing her first disc in 1976, and starred in the television series ''Marie-Soleil''. In 1991, Pinel was made a Member of the Order of Canada for being "one of the great ambassadors of French-Canadian culture, this Franco-Ontarian teacher has helped promote bilingualism among both the younger and older members of the two language groups". In 2012, she was made a member of the Order of Ontario. Before embarking on her career as a children's entertainer, Pinel studied nursing at the University of Ottawa. The university awarded her an honorary doctorate in 2002. She was appointed a citizenship judge in 1997 and served until 2010. Since her term expired she has occasionally served as a guest presider at citizenship ceremonies.

Paul Langevin
Paul Langevin (; ; 23 January 1872 â€“ 19 December 1946) was a French physicist who developed Langevin dynamics and the Langevin equation. He was one of the founders of the ''Comité de vigilance des intellectuels antifascistes'', an anti-fascist organization created after the 6 February 1934 far right riots. Being a public opponent of fascism in the 1930s resulted in his arrest and being held under house arrest by the Vichy government for most of World War II. Langevin was also president of the Human Rights League (LDH) from 1944 to 1946, having recently joined the French Communist Party. He was a doctoral student of Pierre Curie and later a lover of widowed Marie Curie.
