Amos Pinchot
Amos Richards Eno Pinchot (December 6, 1873 – February 18, 1944) was an American lawyer and reformist. He never held public office but managed to exert considerable influence in reformist circles and did much to keep Progressivism, progressive and Georgism, Georgist ideas alive in the 1920s. Early life and education Pinchot was born in Paris, to American parents, who were Episcopalians. The Pinchot Trail System is a hiking trail in Pinchot State Forest in the Pocono Mountains region of northeastern Pennsylvania. The trail is marked with orange blazes as a designated Pennsylvania State Forest hiking trail. The Pinchot Sycamore is a large American sycamore (''Platanus occidentalis'') in Simsbury, Connecticut. It is the largest tree in Connecticut. Pinchot Pass is a high mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California, in the United States. It lies within far eastern Fresno County, inside Kings Canyon National Park and the Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness. Pinchot Pass sits at an elevation of 12,090 feet (3,685 m), running roughly from east to west, situated between 12,874-foot Crater Mountain to the southwest and 13,179-foot Mount Wynne directly to the east. The pass separates a lakes basin that includes Marjorie Lake to the north, and the Woods Creek drainage (a major tributary of the South Fork Kings River) to the south. Gifford Pinchot State Park
Gifford Pinchot State Park is a Pennsylvania state park in northern York County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It was named in honor of noted conservationist and former Pennsylvania Governor Gifford Pinchot. The fourth chief of the United States Division of Forestry, Pinchot was susbsequently appointed as the first head of the United States Forest Service. Ground was broken for the new park by Pennsylvania Governor George M. Leader in May 1958, and a preliminary dedication ceremony was held on grounds of the new park in October 1958, during which Leader was presented with a commemorative plaque in memory of Pinchot by the Pennsylvania Forestry Association.
