Pim Van Vugt
Pim van Vugt (born 25 January 1995 in Vlaardingen) is a sailor from the Netherlands. By finishing on the 8th place at the 2019 49er & 49er FX World Championships on 8 December 2019 in Auckland, together with his partner Bart Lambriex he grabbed one of the four available international qualification spots for the 2020 Summer Olympics. On 4 October 2020, by finishing on the 6th place at the 2020 49er & 49er FX & Nacra17 European Championships in Attersee (lake), Lake Attersee in Austria, he also met the full national standards for qualifying for the above. Vlaardingen
Vlaardingen () is a city in South Holland in the Netherlands. It is located on the north bank of the Nieuwe Maas river at the confluence with the Oude Maas. The municipality administers an area of , of which is land, with residents in . Geography The city is divided into a northern part (locally known as the "Holy") and a southern part by the A20 motorway. On the east the city is separated from Schiedam by the A4 motorway. Other places nearby are Maassluis to the west, Schipluiden and Delft to the north, Schiedam and Rotterdam to the east and Spijkenisse in the south-west, on the other side of the Nieuwe Maas. Sven Coster
Sven Erik Coster (born 2 December 1978, in Leiden) is a sailor from the Netherlands. Coster represented his country for the first time at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. With his brother Kalle Coster as crew Coster took 6th place as helmsman in the Dutch Men's 470. Coster's second Olympic appearance was during the 2008 Olympics in Qingdao again as helmsman in the 470 and his brother as crew, Coster took the 4th place. Also with Kalle as crew in the 470 Coster helmed the Dutch 470 at the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth. The brothers finished on the 12th place. Allianz Regatta
Allianz Regatta, formerly known as the SPA Regatta, the Holland Regatta, the Delta Lloyd Regatta, and the Medemblik Regatta, is an annual sailing regatta in Almere, the Netherlands, first held in 1985 in Medemblik. It hosts the Olympic and Paralympic classes. In 2005, the regatta became the Holland Regatta. In 2015, it was part of the EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup. Attersee (lake)
Attersee, also known as Kammersee, English sometimes Lake Atter, is the largest lake of the Salzkammergut region in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. It is Austria's third largest lake by area, surpassed only by Lake Constance and Lake Neusiedl, which, however, both extend beyond national borders. Geography The surface area extends for about from north to south and from east to west. With an average depth of , its water volume even surpasses the Chiemsee, which is larger by area. The main inflow is the Seeache creek, which flows out of the nearby Mondsee lake in the southwest. Both Attersee and Mondsee are part of a chain of lakes, beginning with Fuschlsee and Irrsee. 49er (dinghy)
The 49er and 49er FX is a two-handed skiff-type high-performance sailing dinghy. The two crew work on different roles with the helm making many tactical decisions, as well as steering, and the crew doing most of the sail control. Both of the crew are equipped with their own trapeze and sailing is done while cantilevered over the water to the fullest extent to balance against the sails. The 49er was designed by Julian Bethwaite (the son of Frank Bethwaite) and developed by a consortium consisting of Bethwaites, Performance Sailcraft Japan, Peter Johnston, and Ovington boats. The boat has been an Olympic class since it was selected by the International Sailing Federation to be the men's high performance double handed dinghy Sydney Summer Games of 2000.
