The Honorary Title Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation (russian: Летчик-космонавт Российской Федерации) is a state award of the Russian Federation presented to all cosmonauts who fly for the Russian Federal Space Agency. Usually accompanying the distinction is the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, the highest title that can be awarded to a Russian for performing heroic deeds while in service of the state. History of the Title The Honorary Title of Pilot-Cosmonaut was originally established by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on April 14, 1961, it was then called Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR (russian: Летчик-космонавт СССР). Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the title was retained by the Law of the Russian Federation 2555-1 dated March 20, 1992 and the title was renamed Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation. Yuri Malenchenko
Yuri Ivanovich Malenchenko (russian: Юрий Иванович Маленченко; born December 22, 1961) is a retired Russian cosmonaut. Malenchenko became the first person to marry in space, on 10 August 2003, when he married Ekaterina Dmitrieva, who was in Texas, while he was over New Zealand, on the International Space Station. As of June 2016, Malenchenko ranks second for career time in space due to his time on both Mir and the International Space Station (ISS). He is a former Commander of the International Space Station. Valeri Ivanovich Tokarev (russian: Валерий Иванович Токарев; born 29 October 1952) is a Russian Air Force Colonel and test cosmonaut at the Yuri A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. Tokarev traveled to space twice, and has performed two career spacewalks, before retiring in June 2008. Personal Tokarev was born on 29 October 1952 in Kapustin Yar, Astrakhan Oblast, Soviet Union. He is married to Irina Tokareva (née Nikolayevna), with whom they have two children: a daughter, Olya, and a son, Ivan, and reside at Star City, Moscow Oblast. His mother, Lidiya, lives in the city of Rostov, Yaroslavl Region and his father, Ivan Pavlovich, died in an auto accident in 1972. Gennady Ivanovich Padalka (russian: Гeннадий Иванович Падалка; born 21 June 1958 in Krasnodar, Soviet Union) is a Russian Air Force officer and a Roscosmos cosmonaut. Yuri Mikhailovich Baturin (russian: Юрий Михайлович Батурин; born 12 June 1949, in Moscow), is a Russian cosmonaut and former politician. Baturin graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1973, and is the former Assistant to the President on National Security and Secretaty of the Defense Council (1996-1998); he is also an author in constitutional law. Baturin was also a cosmonaut who flew on two missions. His first spaceflight, sometimes called Mir EP-4, was launched with the spacecraft Soyuz TM-28 13 August 1998, and landed with Soyuz TM-27. Salizhan Sharipov
Salizhan Shakirovich Sharipov (russian: Салижан Шакирович Шарипов, uz, Solijon Shokirovich Sharipov, ) (born 24 August 1964) is a Kyrgyzstani cosmonaut of Uzbek descent. Sharipov is a co-author and investigator for the Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound in Microgravity project. Pavel Vladimirovich Vinogradov (russian: Павел Владимирович Виноградов; born 31 August 1953 in Magadan, USSR) is a cosmonaut and former commander of the International Space Station. Aleksandr Lazutkin
Aleksandr Ivanovich Lazutkin (russian: Александр Иванович Лазуткин; born October 30, 1957) is a Russian cosmonaut. Life and career Lazutkin attended the Moscow Aviation Institute and received a mechanical engineering degree. He was selected as cosmonaut on March 3, 1992. His first spaceflight was Soyuz TM-25, on which he was the flight engineer. Lazutkin has said that Russian cosmonauts were given cognac for extended missions in space. 1997 Progress supply mission Lazutkin was aboard the Mir Space Station when a collision occurred with the unmanned Progress M34, its supply craft which was piloted by Vasily Tsibliyev while on the Mir.
