Abraham Pihl
Abraham Pihl (3 October 1756 – 20 May 1821) was a Norwegian clergyman, astronomer, and architect. Biography Abraham Pihl was born in Gausdal, in Oppland county, Norway. He completed priest study at the University of Copenhagen in 1783 where he had also studied mathematics, mechanics and astronomy. In 1784, Pihl became vicar at Flekkefjord in the county of Vest-Agder. From 1785 he was appointed as Denmark-Norway astronomical observer in Norway. In 1789, he was appointed to serve as priest in the parish of Vang in Hedmark (''Vang kirke, Hamar'') where he would serve until his death in 1821. When Vang church burned down in 1804, Pihl designed the new church and oversaw construction work. The church has an octagonal shape and is with 1000 seats the second largest of Norway's octagonal churches. The building later served as a model for octagonal churches the western side of Mjøsa. Jüri Pihl (17 March 1954 – 3 February 2019) was an Estonian politician, a member of the Social Democratic Party. From 1993 to 2003 he served as the General Director of Kaitsepolitsei, the central security institution in Estonia. After that, from 2003 to 2005 he was the Attorney General of the Republic of Estonia. ''Anna Pihl'' is a Danish police drama produced by TV2. The series stars Charlotte Munck (''Kongekabale'') as the title character Anna Pihl, Peter Mygind, and Iben Hjejle ('' High Fidelity'' and '' Blinkende Lygter'') as Mikala. Three seasons have been produced between 2006 and 2008, each having 10 episodes. The show follows the work and personal life of Anna Pihl, a policewoman at the Bellahøj police station in Copenhagen. She is divorced, and lives with her son, Mikkel, in a flat shared with Jan, her gay male friend. The show focuses on personal stories and realism: although it has action and suspense, it comes second to more realistic material. Besides Denmark, the series has been broadcast in Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Finland. In Germany, the show was cancelled due to low ratings after the first nine episodes of season 1. Tove Pihl
Tove Agnethe Pihl (21 December 1924 – 20 January 1987) was a Norwegian educator and politician for the Labour Party. She was born in Kristiania as the daughter of professor in medicine Otto Lous Mohr and the noted activist Tove Mohr. Her maternal grandmother was Katti Anker Møller. Tove Pihl graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Rochester in 1948, and with a Master of Arts degree in pedagogy from the University of Chicago in 1949. She then worked as a school teacher and rector in Oslo, and was a member of the city school board from 1956. She was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo in 1969, but was not re-elected in 1973. During her term, she was a member of the Standing Committee of Justice. Pihl also chaired the Norwegian Movement for Vietnam from 1973 to 1974, and was a member of the board of Nei til Atomvåpen from 1980 to 1986.
