Pigespejdernes Fællesråd Danmark (PFD, ''The Joint Committee of Girl Guides in Denmark'') is the national Guiding federation of Denmark. Danish Guiding started in 1910, the PFD was founded in 1923 and was among the founding members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1928. The federation serves 18,893 Guides (as of 2008). Princess Benedikte of Denmark, Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (Benedikte Astrid Ingeborg Ingrid, born 29 April 1944) is a member of the Danish royal family. She is the second daughter and child of Frederick IX of Denmark, King Frederick IX and Ingrid of Sweden, Queen Ingrid of Denmark. She is the younger sister of the reigning Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II of Denmark, Margrethe II, and the older sister of Queen Anne-Marie of Greece. The Dansk Spejderkorps Sydslesvig (DSS, Danish Scouts Corps in South Schleswig) is a Scout association of the Danish minority of Southern Schleswig, Germany. Founded in 1919, the coeducational association had about 680 members in 12 groups, as of 2007. It is an affiliate of The Danish Scout Council. Scouting And Guiding In Denmark
The Scout and Guide movement in Denmark consists of about ten different associations. Most of them are members of two large federations, but there are also some independent organizations. Affiliated to Danish Scouting and Guiding are the organizations in Greenland, on the Faroe Islands and in Southern Schleswig. Scouting in Denmark started in 1909. Danish Scouts were among the charter members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Danish Guides among the founding members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Girl Guiding in Denmark consists of girls only, while some WAGGGS countries allow boys to be included. De grønne pigespejdere is the only association for girls only - all the other organisations are mixed boys and girls. 'Boy Scout' and 'Girl Guide' are both translated to the Danish 'Spejder'. Jamboree (Scouting)
In Scouting, a jamboree is a large gathering of Scouting, Scouts who rally at a national or international level. History The 1st World Scout Jamboree was held in 1920, and was hosted by the United Kingdom. Since then, there have been twenty-three other World Scout Jamborees, hosted in various countries, generally every four years. The 25th World Jamboree is to be held in Korea in 2023. There are also national and continental jamborees held around the world with varying frequency. Many of these events will invite and attract Scouts from overseas. Føroya Skótaráð
In the Faroe Islands, there are four Scouting, Scout and Girl Guides, Guiding associations forming the Føroya Skótaráð (Faroese Scout Council). They work under the same basic rules, but they do have their own specialties. The council is a member of Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere and has observer status with Pigespejdernes Fællesråd Danmark. Component associations Føroya Skótasamband Also known as ''The Yellow Scouts'', the organization was founded in 1926. There are five Scout groups in the country. The groups are not connected to religious organizations, and have both girls and boys as members. The uniform is a khaki shirt. There are just under 300 members. Skótalið Frelsunarhersins The Salvation Army Scouts or ''FH-Scouts'' were founded in 1939. There is only one small group in the country.
