Pietro Paolo Virdis
Antonio Pietro Paolo Virdis (born 26 June 1957) is an Italian association football, football manager and former player, who played as a forward (association football), forward. Throughout his career, he played for A.S. Nuorese Calcio, Nuorese, before playing in Serie A with Cagliari Calcio, Juventus F.C., Juventus, Udinese Calcio, and A.C. Milan; he ended his career with U.S. Lecce, Lecce. Known for his eye for goal, with Juventus, he won two league titles and a Coppa Italia; with Milan, he was the Capocannoniere, league's top scorer in 1987, also winning a league title and the Supercoppa Italiana in 1988, and was part of the club's UEFA Champions League, European Cup victory in 1988–89 European Cup, 1989. Sassari (, ; sdc, Sàssari ; sc, Tàtari, ) is an Italian city and the second-largest of Sardinia in terms of population with 127,525 inhabitants, and a Functional Urban Area of about 260,000 inhabitants. The Serie D () is the top level of semi-professional football in the country. The fourth tier of the Italian league system, the competition sits beneath the third professional league, Serie C. It is administered by the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti and is organized by the Roman ''Comitato Interregionale'' (Interregional Committee), a "league in the league" inside the LND. The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A. It has been operating for over ninety years since the 1929–30 Serie B, 1929–30 season. Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football (soccer), football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1. Before the 1978–79 season there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 and Serie C2. Serie C2, the fourth highest professional league in the Italian system, was also renamed in 2008 and was called Lega Pro Seconda Divisione.
