Alicia Pietri Montemayor
Alicia Pietri Montemayor (14 October 1923 – 9 February 2011) was a public figure in Venezuela who twice served as First Lady of Venezuela (1969–1974 and 1994–1999) as the wife of Venezuelan president Rafael Caldera. She was the founder of the Children's Museum of Caracas. She served as president of the Children’s Foundation in Venezuela, and was also involved in other organizations dedicated to childcare. Personal life Alicia Pietri Montemayor was born on October 14, 1923. She married Rafael Caldera on 6 August 1941. The couple had six children: Mireya, Rafael Tomás, Juan José, Alicia Helena, Cecilia and Andrés. Juan José Caldera (born 1948) became a politician. Her husband died on December 24, 2009, after struggling for several years with Parkinson’s Disease. She died in Caracas, Venezuela on February 9, 2011 at the age 87, of natural causes. Dorando Pietri
Dorando Pietri (; often wrongly spelt Petri; 16 October 1885 – 7 February 1942) was an Italian long-distance runner. He finished first in the marathon at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London but was subsequently disqualified. Biography Early years Pietri was born in Mandrio, a ''frazione'' of Correggio, but spent his youth in Carpi (Emilia-Romagna region). Here he worked as a shop-boy at a confectionery shop. He was 1.59 m (5 ft., 2½ in.) tall. In September 1904 the most famous Italian runner of the time, Pericle Pagliani, took part in a race in Carpi. According to tradition, Pietri was attracted by the event and, still wearing his work clothes, ran to the finish ahead of Pagliani. A few days later Pietri débuted in a distance race, finishing second in the 3,000 m of Bologna. The following year he achieved his first international success, winning the 30 km in Paris. Giuseppe Pietri (Sant'Ilario, ''frazione'' of Marina di Campo, ''comune'' of Campo nell'Elba, 6 May 1886 – Milan, 11 August 1946) was an Italian composer, known primarily for his work in operetta. Excerpts from one of his works, the opera ''Maristella'', were widely recorded and continue to be so on CD. The aria "Io conosco un giardino" from that work has been popular with tenors, and has been frequently recorded separately; among the singers to record it are Luciano Pavarotti, Beniamino Gigli, Joseph Calleja and more recently, Rolando Villazón. Pietri studied composition at the Milan Conservatory at Gaetano Coronato. He studied harmony and counterpoint with Amintore Galli. Émile Joseph Marie Piétri (25 February 1820 – 4 January 1902), known as Joachim Pietri, was a French lawyer and public servant who was prefect of several departments, a repressive police chief of Paris in the last years of the Second French Empire and Bonapartist Senator of Corsica from 1879 to 1885.
