Pierro Niel-Mee
__NOTOC__ Pierro Margaret River Vineyards (usually referred to simply as Pierro) is an Australian winery at Wilyabrup, in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. Established in 1979 on a scrubby, rocky and steeply sloping property, it has been described as having "one of the prettiest locations in an area that offers much, even at its most mundane." The winery's name, adapted from that of the folk tale character Pierrot, alludes to both the winery's founder, Dr Michael Peterkin, and its location, as both "Pierrot" and "Peterkin" mean "son of Peter" and "son of the rock". Caves Road (Western Australia)
Caves Road is a scenic route in the South West region of Western Australia. It connects western Busselton with Augusta, running along or to the west of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge, and is an alternative route to Bussell Highway. Caves Road is also a major component of the route from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin, in what is known as the state's Capes Region. Route description Starting at Bussell Highway in Abbey, west of Busselton, Caves Road initially heads west passing the Locke Nature Reserve or "Holy Mile" through Dunsborough to Yallingup. From there the road travels southwards, between the coast and Bussell Highway, which it rejoins at the northern edge of Augusta. Wilyabrup, Western Australia
Wilyabrup, also spelt Willyabrup, is a locality in Western Australia's Margaret River wine region, in the local government area of the City of Busselton. The Quinninup Falls are within the locality. At the 2021 census, it had a population of 193. It has the highest concentration of premium wine producers in the region. History The area lies in the traditional lands of the Wadandi people. The name "Wilyabrup" (also spelt "Willyabrup") comes from the local Wilyabrup Brook, which first appeared on planning documents in 1865, and may be derived from "Worlyabaraap", a Noongar word meaning "northern sky". The area was developed in the 1920s as part of the Group Settlement Scheme, with the construction of a hall beginning in 1922 and a school on the site in 1928; the school was destroyed by fire in 1954. Margaret River is the major geographical indication wine region in southwest Western Australia, with 5,017 hectares under vine and 215 wineries as at 2012. Margaret River wine region is made up predominantly of boutique size wine producers; although winery operations range from the smallest crushing 3.5 tonne per year to the largest around 7000 tonne. The climate of Margaret River is more strongly maritime-influenced than any other major Australian region. It has the lowest mean annual temperature range, of only 7.6 °C, and as well as the most marked Mediterranean climate in terms of rainfall, with only 200 millimetres of the annual 1160 millimetres falling between October and April. Pierrot ( , , ) is a stock character of pantomime and '' commedia dell'arte'', whose origins are in the late seventeenth-century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris and known as the Comédie-Italienne. The name is a diminutive of ''Pierre'' (Peter), via the suffix '' -ot.'' His character in contemporary popular culture — in poetry, fiction, and the visual arts, as well as works for the stage, screen, and concert hall — is that of the sad clown, often pining for love of Columbine, who usually breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin.
