Pierre Maurin
Pierre Meurin (born 30 November 1989) is a French politician from National Rally (RN) who has represented Gard's 4th constituency in the National Assembly since 2022. Professional and personal life Maurin was born in Paris and is the son of a construction worker who ran a window installation firm. He has two brothers and a sister. He graduated with a Master's degree in law and during his studies was active in the Union Nationale Inter-universitaire union. He served on the board of directors of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines until 2012 and later worked at the Institut d'études politiques de Lyon until 2021. He is married to a speech therapist with whom he has two children. Maurin has described himself as a practicing Catholic. 2022 French Presidential Election
The 2022 French presidential election was held on 10 and 24 April 2022. As no candidate won a majority in the first round, a runoff was held, in which Emmanuel Macron defeated Marine Le Pen and was re-elected as President of France. Macron, from La République En Marche! (LREM), had defeated Le Pen, leader of the National Rally, once already in the 2017 French presidential election, for the term which expired on 13 May 2022. Macron became the first President of France to win a re-election bid since Jacques Chirac won in 2002. In the first round, Macron took the lead with 27.9% of votes, followed by Le Pen with 23.2%, Jean-Luc Mélenchon of La France Insoumise with 22%, and Éric Zemmour of Reconquête with 7.1%. The New Ecological and Social People's Union (french: Nouvelle Union populaire écologique et sociale, link=no, NUPES) is a left-wing alliance of political parties in France.
