Pierre Guichet
Pierre Auguste Antoine Marie Guichet, MSC, MBE (born 21 January 1915, died 6 October 1989) was the Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Tarawa from 1961 to 1978, when Paul Mea succeeded him. He was titular bishop of Stectorium from 1961 to 1966 as Vicar Apostolic of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, until it was elevated as the Diocese of Tarawa in Teaoraereke in 1966. He was ordained a priest on 24 March 1946, was the superior of the Mission of Melanesia, and consecrated bishop on 18 November 1961. Missionaries Of The Sacred Heart
The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC; la, Missionarii Sacratissimi Cordis; french: Missionnaires du Sacré-Coeur) are a missionary congregation in the Catholic Church. It was founded in 1854 by Servant of God Jules Chevalier (1824–1907) at Issoudun, France, in the Diocese of Bourges. Jules Chevalier, the founder of the Chevalier Family, had a vision of a new world emerging and he wanted to make known the Gospel message of God's love and care for all men and women and to evoke a response in every human heart. He especially valued love, concern, compassion, understanding, respect and acceptance of every individual. His vision was based on the words of Jesus: I give you a new commandment, love one another. Teaoraereke
Teaoraereke (in Gilbertese, the narrow surface) is a town and settlement in South Tarawa of Kiribati. It is part of a nearly continuous chain of settlements along the islands of South Tarawa, which are now linked by causeways, between Bairiki and Buota (North Tarawa). Teaoraereke lies between Nanikai and Antebuka. 6,073 inhabitants live in Teaoraereke at the last census (2020), that means the third populated area in all Kiribati and the second of South Tarawa’s (TUC), but Bikenibeu. The Gilbert and Ellice Islands (GEIC as a colony) in the Pacific Ocean were part of the British Empire from 1892 to 1976. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service.
