Pierre Bureau

	Pierre Bureau Pierre Bureau (October 9, 1771 – June 6, 1836) was a businessman and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born in L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec in 1771. Bureau operated an inn for travellers at Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade and a ferry service across the Sainte-Anne River. Around 1811, he moved to Trois-Rivières, where he became a merchant. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Canada for Saint-Maurice in an 1819 by-election and represented that region until his death at Trois-Rivières in 1836. He supported an elected Legisliative Council and tended to support the Parti canadien. Bureau voted in support of the Ninety-Two Resolutions. picture info	Lower Canada The Province of Lower Canada (french: province du Bas-Canada) was a British colony on the lower Saint Lawrence River and the shores of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence (1791–1841). It covered the southern portion of the current Province of Quebec and the Labrador region of the current Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (until the Labrador region was transferred to Newfoundland in 1809). 	Étienne Mayrand Étienne Mayrand (September 3, 1776 – January 22, 1872) was a Quebec businessman and political figure. He was born in Montreal in 1776 and went on to work in the fur trade with the North West Company. He established a business in grain and hay at Rivière-du-Loup (later Louiseville in Maskinongé County), also expanding into real estate and money lending. Mayrand served in the militia as an officer during the War of 1812, becoming captain and, in 1846, major. He also held several posts as commissioner in Lower Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Saint-Maurice County in 1816. 	François Lesieur Desaulniers François Lesieur Desaulniers (1785 – August 7, 1870) was a Quebec farmer and political figure. He was born in Yamachiche in 1785. He served as lieutenant-colonel in the local militia. In 1805, he married Charlotte, the daughter of Augustin Rivard, who represented Saint-Maurice in the legislative assembly from 1792 to 1796. 	Louis Gugy Lt.-Colonel The Hon. Jean-Georges-Barthélemy-Guillaume-Louis Gugy (January 1770 – July 17, 1840) represented Saint-Maurice in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada and the Legislative Council of Lower Canada. 	Valère Guillet Valère Guillet (1796 – February 26, 1881) was a notary and political figure in colonial Quebec. He represented Saint-Maurice in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1830 to 1836 as a supporter of the Parti patriote. He was born in Batiscan, Lower Canada, the son of Jean-Baptiste Guillet and Marguerite Langlois. 	Charles Caron Charles Caron (January 3, 1768 – January 30, 1853) was a farmer and political figure in Lower Canada. He signed his name Charle Caront. He was born Charles-François Caron in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies in 1768. Caron began farming on land purchased by his father in the seigneury of Yamachiche and also acquired additional land himself. In 1794, he married Françoise, the daughter of Augustin Rivard. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Saint-Maurice in 1824 and reelected in 1827. Caron was defeated in the general election held in 1830. He was part of a group of singers known as the "Chantres de Machiche". He died at Yamachiche in 1853. 	Louis Picotte Louis Picotte (May 4, 1780 – May 7, 1827) was a farmer, merchant and political figure in Quebec. He represented Saint-Maurice in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1820 to 1824 as a member of the Parti canadien. He was born in Rivière du-Loup (later Louiseville), the son of Jean-Baptiste Picotte, an Acadian refugee, and Hélène Jarlais. Picotte was a voyageur in the Northwest with McTavish, Frobisher and Company. In 1810, he married his second cousin Archange Déjarlais.
