Pierre-Henri Bunel
Pierre-Henri Bunel (born 1952) is a former French artillery and intelligence officer. He became publicly known after having leaked sensitive NATO documents during the Kosovo war, for which he served a jail sentence in 2001–2002. He later worked in construction and as a writer on Islamic extremism and the Serbian War. Career After graduating from the prestigious military academy of Saint-Cyr, he entered the French Army in 1972 and obtained the rank of major. During the Gulf War, he was an aide to General Michel Roquejeoffre. Leaking of sensitive NATO operational documents At the end of 1998, when he was a member of the French delegation to NATO's military committee at the headquarters in Brussels, he admitted of having passed sensitive operational documents to Serbian officials, after which he was accused of treason. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanians, Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The conflict ended when the NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, intervened by beginning air strikes in March 1999 which resulted in Yugoslav forces withdrawing from Kosovo. The KLA was formed in the early 1990s to fight against Serbian persecution of Kosovo Albanians, with the goal of uniting Kosovo into a Greater Albania. The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11, were four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Stephen Jessel (born 9 August 1943) was for many years a British BBC correspondent, based between 1977 and 1995 in Paris, Beijing, Brussels, Washington DC and again Paris. He had previously worked, after leaving university, for ''The Times'' of London as a reporter and education correspondent.
