Pierluigi Benedettini
Pierluigi Benedettini (born August 18, 1961) is a Sammarinese former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Like other players from San Marino, he was an amateur and worked as a bus driver. He is the father of Simone who became also International goalkeeper in 2019, and the uncle of Elia. Benedetti made 25 appearances for the San Marino national team from 1990 to 1995. Simone Benedettini (born 21 January 1997) is a Sanmarinese footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Sanmarinese club Fiorentino. He is the son of former International goalkeeper Pierluigi (''29 caps between March 1986 and June 1995''). Early career Benedettini was born in San Marino, and began his career in the youth teams of local club side San Marino Calcio. In 2015, he was signed by Serie B side Modena, again to play in their youth sector. Elia Benedettini (born 22 June 1995) is a Sammarinese footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Cailungo and the San Marino national team. He is the cousin of San Marino goalkeeper Simone. Club career Benedettini began his career at San Marino Calcio in Lega Pro, the third tier of the Italian football system. He was first called up to a matchday squad on 24 September 2012, remaining an unused substitute in a 0–1 home loss against Pavia at the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle. On 10 February 2013 he was called up again and remained unused in a 2–0 home win over PortoSummaga.
