S.F.K. Pierikos ( el, Σ.Φ.Κ. Πιερικός) is a Greek football club based in Katerini, Greece, part of the major multi-sport club of the same name. Their name was inspired from the State's name of Pieria. The club recently competed in the Super League 2 2021–22, at the Northern Group and got relegated to Gamma Ethniki. History of the club The foundation The club was founded on 11 April 1961 from the merger between Megas Alexandros (meaning Alexander the Great) Katerinis and Olympos Katerinis. Megas Alexandros had played in the 1st Division of Greek football in its first season ( 1959–60) but finished in the 15th position and thus relegated in the 2nd Division. Neither Megas Alexandros nor Olympos gained promotion in the following season. Unification of the two clubs has seen as the only way for the city of Katerini to have a team in the 1st Division. Syndesmos Filathlon Katerinis Pierikos ( el, Σύνδεσμος Φιλάθλων Κατερίνης Πιερικός, Supporters' Association of Katerini Pierikos), founded in 1961, is a Greek multi-sport club and parent club of Pierikos F.C., based in the town of Katerini, capital of Pieria regional unit, located in Central Macedonia, Greece. The club is also known as S.F.K. Pierikos, or simply Pierikos, and its colors is white. The foundation SFK Piericos was founded on April 11, 1961 after the merging of Alexander the Great Katerini's F.C. and Olympus Katerini's F.C. and within the same year, Katerini's new team managed to gain promotion to the First National League. 2021–22 Super League Greece 2
The 2021–22 Super League 2, known as Super League 2 betsson for sponsorship reasons, is the third season of the Super League 2, the second-tier Greek professional league for association football clubs, since the restructuring of the Greek football league system. The season started on 6 November 2021 and will finish in May 2022. The league will be conducted of 34 teams and two groups, this is due to the restructure and abolishment of the Football League. The league will also see the introduction of B Teams of Olympiacos, PAOK, AEK Athens and Panathinaikos. B Teams are ineligible for promotion. Katerini Stadium
Katerini Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Katerini, Greece. It is used for football matches and is the home stadium of Pierikos. On 19 July 2015 it hosted the final of the 2015 UEFA European Under-19 Championship between Spain and Russia. The Municipal Stadium of Katerini (or better than the 1st Municipal Athletic Center of Katerini), which was renamed so recently, since until recently it was named ''National Stadium of Katerini'', is located in the ''District of National Stadium'' in the city of Katerini. It has a capacity of 4,995 spectators. It has two stands (there are no stands behind the goalposts). The central part of one west stand is covered. Gamma Ethniki
The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. Katerini ( el, Κατερίνη, ''Kateríni'', ) is a city and municipality in northern Greece, the capital city of Pieria regional unit in Central Macedonia, Greece. It lies on the Pierian plain, between Mt. Olympus and the Thermaikos Gulf, at an altitude of 14 m. The Greek Football Cup ( el, Κύπελλο Ελλάδος Ποδοσφαίρου), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Kypello Elladas is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. The Greek Cup is the second most important domestic men's football event, after the championship of Super League. Pieria ( el, Πιερία) is one of the regional units of Greece located in the southern part of the Region of Central Macedonia, within the historical province of Macedonia. Olympiakos Nicosia ( el, Ολυμπιακός Λευκωσίας, ''Olympiakos Lefkosias'') is a football club based in Nicosia, Cyprus and competes in the Cypriot First Division. The club was founded in 1931, and is a founding member of the Cyprus Football Association. The club colors are black and green.
