Piecki-Migowo
Piecki-Migowo ( csb, Piécczi-Mëgòwò) is one of the quarters of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. It consists of two parts: Piecki (german: Pietzkenhagen) and Migowo (german: Müggau). Populated by 23,593 inhabitants in an area of 3.8 km² (population density 6,224), Piecki-Migowo together are popularly called Morena. It is located on top of a hill more than 100 meters above sea level that used to be an example of Arcadian nature. It is an example of a multi-story housing estate that is claimed to fail to properly use the beauty of the landscape. The housing estate was built in the second half of the 1970s and in the 1980s. The construction areas are slowly being extended to the area of the former military training areas. The prevailing type of new structures are family houses or small buildings. Ujeścisko-Łostowice
Ujeścisko-Łostowice is one of the administrative districts (''dzielnica administracyjna'') of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, commonly known as the Teutonic Order, is a Catholic religious institution founded as a military society in Acre, Kingdom of Jerusalem. It was formed to aid Christians on their pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to establish hospitals. Danzig Rebellion
The rebellion of the city of Danzig (Gdańsk) was a revolt from December 1575 to December 1577 of the city against the outcome of the 1576 Polish–Lithuanian royal election. The Polish throne was contested by Stephen Báthory and the Holy Roman Emperor Maximillian II. It began on 12 December 1575, when Emperor Maximillian was chosen as monarch by the Polish Senate, while the majority of the szlachta (nobility) had voted for Bathory. It ended on 16 December 1577. Maximilian's II death in fall of 1576 weakened Danzig's position and made the conflict less about the recognition of the ruler than about Danzig's privileges. With neither side being able to defeat the other militarily, a compromise was reached, with economic as well as religious privileges of the city being restored and recognized, in return for a large reparation and recognition of Bathory as Grand Duke of western Prussia. Stephen Báthory
Stephen Báthory ( hu, Báthory István; pl, Stefan Batory; ; 27 September 1533 – 12 December 1586) was Voivode of Transylvania (1571–1576), Prince of Transylvania (1576–1586), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1576–1586). The son of Stephen VIII Báthory and a member of the Hungarian Báthory noble family, Báthory was a ruler of Transylvania in the 1570s, defeating another challenger for that title, Gáspár Bekes. Wrzeszcz
Wrzeszcz (pronounced , german: Langfuhr; csb, Wrzészcz) is one of the boroughs of the Northern Poland, Polish city of Gdańsk.
