Piece By Piece (film)
''Piece by Piece'' is a 2005 documentary film directed by Nic Hill. The film documents San Francisco's graffiti culture from the early 1980s to 2004. It is narrated by the San Francisco graffiti artist Senor One, better known as Renos. The ''San Francisco Bay Guardian'''s Cheryl Eddy singled the film out as the highlight of the 2006 Hi/Lo film festival, calling it "an educational experience" and "a thoughtful document". In a full review for that same paper, Johnny Ray Huston said it was "a thorough history that still makes time ... for abstract, lyrical flowing passages". Huston complained that sections such as those featuring Tie One or Reminisce could make movies in themselves, and wished to see more detailing of artists' entries into the legitimate art world. ORFN
ORFN (born Aaron Curry; 1974 – December 7, 2016) was an American artist and reportedly "one of the most prolific graffiti writers in San Francisco Bay Area history." Early life and education ORFN was an orphan. He never had a relationship with his biological father, and his mother gave him up as a child because she was unable to care for him. ORFN spent time in several foster and group homes before coming to live with the Curry family in Palo Alto, California as a fifth or sixth grader. In middle school and as a young teenager, ORFN was a skateboarder who was widely thought to be on the path to sponsorship, but after failing to achieve his goal of becoming sponsored, his enthusiasm for skateboarding waned and his passion for art and graffiti emerged. Bare Bones International Film Festival
The Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival was founded in 1999 by the Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI) in the city of Muskogee, Oklahoma, United States to showcase independent motion picture projects with budgets of less than 1 million dollars (hence "bare bones"). The festival runs for eleven days each year in late April at several venues in downtown Muskogee. Miguel Trost De Pedro (born July 27, 1979), better known by his stage name Kid606, is an electronic musician who was raised in San Diego and later moved to San Francisco. He is most closely associated with the glitch, IDM, hardcore techno and breakcore scenes. Kid606's music is similar to the work of his friend and colleague Lesser, as well as hardcore and IDM acts such as Atari Teenage Riot, Autechre, Mr. Oizo, and Matmos. Richard Quitevis (born October 7, 1969) known by his stage name DJ Qbert or Qbert, is an American turntablist and composer. He was awarded America's Best DJ in 2010, was DMC USA Champion 1991 (solo) and achieved titles as DMC World Champion in 1992 and 1993. Early life Richard Quitevis was born on October 7, 1969, to Filipino immigrant parents hailing from Bacolod, Negros Occidental and Ilocos Sur. Growing up in San Francisco's Excelsior District on Moscow Street, he graduated from Luther Burbank Middle School and in 1987 from Balboa High School. Barry McGee (born 1966) is an American contemporary artist. He is a well known graffiti artist, and a pioneer of the Mission School art movement. McGee is known by his monikers: Twist, Ray Fong, Bernon Vernon, and P.Kin. Life and education Barry McGee was born in 1966 in San Francisco, California. He is of Chinese and Irish descent. His father worked at an auto body repair shop. McGee graduated from El Camino High School in South San Francisco, California. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute, where he graduated in 1991 with a concentration in painting and printmaking. McGee was married to the artist Margaret Kilgallen in 1999, who later died of breast cancer in 2001. They have a daughter named Asha.
