Piece (Monsta X Album)
''Piece'' is the first Japanese-language album and second studio album of the South Korean boy group Monsta X. It was released and distributed by Universal Music Japan on April 25, 2018. Background and release The album was announced in February 2018, as Monsta X's first Japanese album. The album consists of ten tracks, including four new tracks, while the other six were already released singles or Japanese versions of some of the group's earlier Korean tracks. Just prior to the release of this album, in March 2018, "Spotlight", originally released in January that year, became a certified gold single by RIAJ, the first of the group's Japanese singles to achieve this certification. Monsta X (; stylized as MONSTA X) is a South Korean boy group formed through the reality survival program ''No.Mercy'' under Starship Entertainment. The group is currently composed of six members: Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney and I.M, with former member Wonho having left the group in October 2019. The group debuted on May 14, 2015 with their first EP ''Trespass''. The Oricon Singles Chart is the Japanese music industry-standard singles popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Chart rankings are based on physical singles' sales. Until 2017, Oricon did not track download sales. In Japan, physical sales decreased sharply in the 2000s, while download sales hit three to four times the amount of single sales. In November 2017, Oricon introduced its first digital songs chart, separate from its main physical singles chart. In November 2018, Oricon launched a streaming chart, and introduced a combined singles chart that utilizes physical single sales, downloads, and streams. Original Confidence Inc., the original Oricon company, was founded by the former Snow Brand Milk Products promoter Sōkō Koike in 1967. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987. The Oricon Albums Chart's rankings are based on physical albums' sales. Oricon did not include download sales until its establishment of the Digital Albums Chart on November 19, 2016. In November 2018, Oricon began to include streaming in its album rankings, introducing a combined album chart based on album-equivalent units. Charts are published every Tuesday in Oricon Style and on Oricon's official website. Every Monday, Oricon receives data from outlets, but data on merchandise sold through certain channels does not make it into the charts. The ''Billboard Japan'' Hot 100 is a record chart in Japan for songs. It has been compiled by ''Billboard Japan'' and '' Hanshin Contents Link'' since February 2008. The chart is updated every Wednesday at Billboard-japan.com ( JST) and every Thursday at Billboard.com ( UTC). The first number-one song on the chart was " Stay Gold" by Hikaru Utada on the issue dated January 16, 2008. He is a member of the South Korean boy group Monsta X, which was formed through Mnet's survival show ''No.Mercy'', under Starship Entertainment in 2015.
