Picnik
Picnik was an online photo editing service which was acquired by Google in 2010. It was headquartered in Downtown Seattle, Washington, United States. The site allowed users to edit images, add styles to imported images and use basic editing tools such as cropping and resizing an image. Users could import photos natively from Facebook, Myspace, Picasa Web Albums, Flickr, Yahoo Image search, Google+ and also offered options to upload from a computer or to upload from a website. Many of Picnik's basic photo editing tools were free to use. Picnik Premium included additional photo editing features and was offered for a monthly, 6-month, or annual subscription cost. Picnik had a partnership with Flickr that included a less feature-rich version of Picnik built into Flickr as a default photo editor. PicMonkey is an online Image editing, photo editing and Graphic design, design service that can be accessed from a web browser, or through a mobile app. The company behind the service is headquartered in downtown Seattle, Washington. PicMonkey offers graphic design and photo editing tools, as well as design templates for wedding invitations, announcements, thank you cards, business cards, etc. While free users can access most of the tools and features on the site, a membership is needed for the full design and photo editing workflow, which includes saving, sharing to social accounts like Facebook and Twitter, and access to PicMonkey's integrated cloud storage option. Flickr
Flickr ( ; ) is an American image hosting and video hosting service, as well as an online community, founded in Canada and headquartered in the United States. It was created by Ludicorp in 2004 and was a popular way for amateur and professional photographers to host high-resolution photos. It has changed ownership several times and has been owned by SmugMug since April 20, 2018. Flickr had a total of 112 million registered members and more than 3.5 million new images uploaded daily. On August 5, 2011, the site reported that it was hosting more than 6 billion images. Photos and videos can be accessed from Flickr without the need to register an account, but an account must be made to upload content to the site. Registering an account also allows users to create a profile page containing photos and videos that the user has uploaded and also grants the ability to add another Flickr user as a contact. Mike Harrington
Mike Harrington is an American programmer and businessman. He is the co-founder of the video game company Valve. After the success of the first Valve product, ''Half-Life'' (1998), Harrington left Valve in 2000. In 2006, he co-founded the photo editing service Picnik. Career Harrington was a game programmer at Dynamix and a designer on the Windows NT operating system at Microsoft. In 1996, Harrington founded Valve with Gabe Newell, another former Microsoft employee. Harrington and Newell funded the development of Valve's debut product, ''Half-Life'' (1998), which Harrington also helped program. Picasa Web Albums (PWA) was an image hosting and sharing web service from Google, often compared to Flickr and similar sites. The service links with Google's photo organizing desktop program Picasa. It was discontinued in May 2016 and succeeded by Google Photos which does not support sharing photo albums on the public world wide web. It allowed users with a Google account to store and share photos in public albums with an initial free storage offering of 15 GB, that is shared with Gmail and Google Drive. Storage was unlimited for photos of resolution less than 2048x2048 pixels for Google+ users, and for photos of resolution less than 800x800 for everyone else.
