Pick Of The Litter (film)
''Pick of the Litter '' is a 2018 American documentary film by Dana Nachman and Don Hardy about a two-year odyssey following puppies training to be guide dogs for the blind. It had its world premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival in January. A web television series of the same name inspired by the film and following a new group of dogs was released on Disney+ on December 20, 2019. Plot The film follows a litter of 5 puppies at Guide Dogs for the Blind on the quest to become guide dogs. The dogs are born on GDB's campus to one of their breeder dogs and at two months old they are placed with volunteer puppy raisers to continue basic training. The puppy raisers have the dogs between 14–16 months, although puppies can be "career changed" at any point. Dana Nachman
Dana Nachman is an independent documentary filmmaker based in Northern California. She has written, directed, and produced six feature documentaries including the 2020 film Dear Santa and the 2018 Pick of the Litter and ''Witch Hunt'', ''The Human Experiment'', ''Love Hate Love'', ''Batkid Begins'' and ''Pick of the Litter (film), Pick of The Litter''. Nachman was one of the showrunners for the limited original series Pick of the Litter based on her feature of the same name. Nachman is a former journalist and worked on NBC Bay Area television documentaries. She produced the 2002 documentary ''Close to Home'', which detailed the lives of Bay Area families impacted by the September 11 attacks. The documentary won an Edward R. Murrow Award (Radio Television Digital News Association), Edward R. Murrow Award and an Emmy Award. ''Too Cute'' is an American television series that aired on Animal Planet from April 30, 2011 to January 2, 2017. Once a series of four separate specials in 2011, ''Too Cute'' became a series a year later with seven episodes in its second season. Reruns of this show air on both Discovery Family and Animal Planet.
