Pic Du Taillon
Pic du Taillon (in French) or Pico Taillón (in Spanish) is a summit in the Pyrenees, culminating at on the Franco-Spanish border in the Monte Perdido Range. Pic du Taillon is considered one of the easiest 3,000ers above the Cirque de Gavarnie. Only the last part from the "finger" of the False Defile (''le Doigt de la Fausse Brèche'') is a little steep, but the climb never technically difficult in the absence of snow. The panorama from the summit is grandiose, offering a view of the Monte Perdido Range, the Vignemale Range, the Néouvielle Range, Balaïtous and Pic du Midi de Bigorre on a clear day. Topography It is part of the range above Cirque de Gavarnie and is located between the Fausse Brèche "finger" and les Gabiétous. Géoportail is a comprehensive web mapping service of the French government that publishes maps and geophysical aerial photographs from more than 90 sources for French territory, France and its territories. The service, first developed by two public agencies (the Institut Géographique National, IGN and the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières, BRGM), was officially inaugurated on 23 June 2006 by president Jacques Chirac. Though the French service has sometimes been described as a competitor or rival to Google Maps, it is different from Google's mapping service (launched one year before in February 2005), since they have different objectives. Geoportail makes some unusual cartographic sources available, such as the renowned 18th-century French cartography#Cassini maps, Cassini maps and the Napoléonic-period Minutes État-Major, in addition to IGN road maps, administrative maps, topographic maps, cadastral and building surveys, public service utility maps, transportation ...
