Pialligo Parish is a parish of Murray County, New South Wales, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. It is now a very tiny piece of land to the north-east of the Australian Capital Territory after most of the land in the parish was transferred to the ACT in 1911. Cadastral Divisions Of New South Wales
For lands administrative purposes, New South Wales is divided into 141 counties, which are further divided into parishes. The counties were first set down in the Colony of New South Wales, which later became the Australian state of New South Wales. The counties were further subdivided into 7,419 parishes. There are also three land divisions, approximately one hundred land districts, and several other types of districts as well as land boards used at various periods. There were also thirteen hundreds proclaimed in Cumberland County, which were later abolished. These divisions are part of the lands administrative divisions of Australia. Pialligo ( postcode: 2609) () is a rural suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The name ''Pialligo'' has been used for the area since at least 1820, and is probably of Aboriginal origin. It was also the name for the parish in the area. Streets in Pialligo are named with Aboriginal words. Beltana Road in Pialligo is home to many of Canberra's nurseries. Canberra Airport is located adjacent to Pialligo across Pialligo Avenue. Geology Quaternary alluvium covers the main western part of Pialligo. Calcareous shales from the Canberra Formation are deep underneath. The Woolshed Creek runs into the north end of Pialligo. Mount Majura
Mount Majura is a small mountain with an elevation of that is located in the northern suburbs of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Mount Majura lies close to the more prominent Mount Ainslie and is the highest point within the urban boundaries of Canberra. Mount Majura is contained within part of the Canberra Nature Park. Molonglo River
The Molonglo River, a perennial river that is part of the Murrumbidgee catchment within the Murray–Darling basin, is located in the Monaro and Capital Country regions of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, in Australia. Location and features The river rises on the western side of the Great Dividing Range, in Tallaganda State Forest at and flows generally from south to north before turning northwest, through Carwoola and the outskirts of Queanbeyan, where it has confluence with its major tributary, the Queanbeyan River, and then continues through Canberra, where it has been dammed by the Scrivener Dam to form Lake Burley Griffin. Mount Ainslie
Mount Ainslie is a hill with an elevation of that is located in the northeastern suburbs of Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Mount Ainslie lies within part of the Canberra Nature Park. Murray County, New South Wales
Murray County was one of the original Nineteen Counties in New South Wales and is now one of the 141 Lands administrative divisions of New South Wales. It included the area which is now part of Canberra and as far north as Lake George (New South Wales), Lake George and Yass, New South Wales, Yass. It was originally bounded on the west by the Murrumbidgee River, on the east by the Shoalhaven River and on the north by the Yass River. Canberra Parish
Canberra Parish is a former parish of Murray County, New South Wales, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. It was formed in the nineteenth century, and existed until 1 January 1911, when the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910 came into force, after the land was transferred to the Commonwealth government in 1909 to be used to form the Australian Capital Territory. It is one of the four former parishes of Murray County which became part of the ACT, along with Yarrolumla, Narrabundah and Gigerline. While other parishes lost land to the ACT, these were the only ones to lose all of the land within the parish. It included what is now Civic, as well as most of North Canberra. It was bounded to the south by the Molonglo River (now Lake Burley Griffin), while on the west the boundary was on the western side of Black Mountain, and on the east the boundary was on the eastern side of Mount Ainslie, thus including both mountains.
