Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên
Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên (born 7 December 1987) is a Vietnamese chess player who holds the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster. She has qualified for the knockout tournament Women's World Chess Championship 2017 as the winner of a zonal stage. In the first two rounds, she won against Lela Javakhishvili and Aleksandra Goryachkina, losing in the third round against Anna Muzychuk. She played for the Vietnamese women's team which won the bronze medal in chess at the 2010 Asian Games. She has played multiple times for Vietnam's team in Women's Chess Olympiad: in 38th Chess Olympiad, 2008 (Dresden), 39th Chess Olympiad, 2010 (Khanty-Mansiysk), 40th Chess Olympiad, 2012 (Istanbul), 41st Chess Olympiad, 2014 (Tromsø), Women's event at the 42nd Chess Olympiad, 2016 (Baku) and Women's event at the 43rd Chess Olympiad, 2018 (Batumi). Women's Event At The 42nd Chess Olympiad
The women's event at the 42nd Chess Olympiad, organised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), was held from 2–13 September 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is contested by a record number of 142 teams representing 138 nations. Azerbaijan, as host nation, field three teams, whilst the International Physically Disabled Chess Association (IPCA) and the International Chess Committee of the Deaf (ICCD) each provide one team. A total number of 693 players are participating in the women's event. China won the gold medal in the women's event, their first since 1994 and their fifth overall. Russian Valentina Gunina, playing on board two, was the best individual player in the women's event with 8 out of 10 points (seven wins, two draws and one loss) with a rating performance of 2643.
