Pua Hak Chuan
Annie Ee Yu Lian (余玉莲 Yú Yùlián; – 13 April 2015) was a Singaporean waitress who was cruelly abused for eight months before she died on 13 April 2015 at the age of 26. Ee's abusers were her 31-year-old childhood friend Tan Hui Zhen (陈惠珍 Chén Huìzhēn) and Tan's 38-year-old husband Pua Hak Chuan (潘学泉 Pān Xuéquán), who were both her flatmates in the couple's four-room Woodlands flat. The physical abuse lasted for eight months from August 2014 to the date of Ee's death. The cause of death was certified to be acute fat embolism as a result of the beatings Ee received from Tan and Pua. It was also revealed that Annie Ee had an intellectual disability, which was one of the factors (besides the cruelty and extent of injuries) behind the public outcry against the couple. Cynthia Phua Siok Gek ( zh, c=潘惜玉, p=Pān Xīyù, born 19 August 1958) is a Singaporean business executive and former politician. She was a Member of Parliament of Aljunied GRC for the Paya Lebar Ward from 25 October 2001 to 19 April 2011. Career Phua was the general manager of NTUC Fairprice Co-operative's real estate business unit and the managing director of estate management company SLF Management Services. She had also served as Chief Executive Officer of Bishan–Toa Payoh Town Council and Chairman of Aljunied Town Council. May Phua (born 14 May 1975 or 1976) is a Singaporeans, Singaporean actress, fitness trainer, host and businesswoman. Early life Phua attended Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre, SHATEC where she obtained Diploma in Tourism in 1996. Career Phua was a full time Mediacorp artiste from 1996 to 2014. Willie Phua
Willie Phua (born 20 February 1928) is a Singaporean news cameraman who is known for his news and feature work covering poignant moments in Asian history over more than three decades. He is the subject of an Australian book published in 2010 called ''Capturing Asia'', by former foreign correspondent Bob Wurth. During his years working on risky assignments, Phua captured many images of wars and uprisings, economic 'miracles' and social upheavals, and the rise and fall of dictators. Phua's camerawork was seen in Australia through the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, but his most important assignments were also shown around the world, sometimes on the BBC. He was one of the few TV cameramen to capture the " Tank Man" briefly holding back Chinese tanks near Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989.
