Phlebiac Brothers
The Phlebiac Brothers are antagonists in Todd McFarlane's ''Spawn'' series of comic books. Background Dubbed the "true denizens of Hell," the Phlebiac brothers are five powerful demonic beings, servants of Malebolgia. The Violator claims they were born of human mothers, but sired by a full-blooded demon from Hell, apparently for a project of John Dee; and that he, the eldest son, later killed their father. Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. Hellspawn (Spawn)
Hellspawn are fictional supernatural warriors from Todd McFarlane's comic book series, ''Spawn''. The main character in the series, Spawn, is himself a Hellspawn. Description The Hellspawn are under the command of Malebolgia, the ruler of the eighth realm of hell, and are mainly used as an officer corps for hell's army. They were created by Malebolgia and Mammon. Hellspawn are infused with dark energy matter, called Necroplasm, when they are created. This power is infinite while in Hell and finite when outside. Most Hellspawns were once human, and made a bargain with Malebolgia to return to Earth for either love or vengeance; he would agree to return them to Earth in exchange for the promise of service in Satan's Hellspawn army. In Dante Alighieri's ''Inferno'', part of the ''Divine Comedy'', Malebolge () is the eighth circle of Hell. Roughly translated from Italian, Malebolge means "evil ditches". Malebolge is a large, funnel-shaped cavern, itself divided into ten concentric circular trenches or ditches. Each trench is called a ''bolgia'' (Italian for "pouch" or "ditch").
