Philomena ( ), also known as Saint Philomena (; ) or Philomena of Rome ( 10 January 291 10 August 304) was a virgin (title)#Virgin martyrs, virgin martyr whose remains were discovered on May 24–25, 1802, in the Catacomb of Priscilla. Three tiles enclosing the tomb bore an inscription, (i.e. "Peace be unto you, Philomena"), that was taken to indicate that her name (in the Latin of the inscription) was ''Filumena'' (), the English form of which is ''Philomena''. Philomena is the patron saint of infants, babies, and youth, and is known as "The Wonderworker". The remains were moved to Mugnano del Cardinale in 1805. There, they became the focus of widespread devotion; several miracles were credited to Philomena's intercession, including the healing of Pauline Jaricot in 1835, which received wide publicity. Philomène Belliveau
Philomène Belliveau (1854 – 1940) was a Canadian artist of Acadian descent. The daughter of Modeste Cormier and Joseph Belliveau, she was born in Memramcook and was educated at the convent of the Sisters of Sacré Cœur (known as Reed's Castle) in Saint John. In 1889, she travelled to Boston, where she took courses in painting and drawing. After she returned to New Brunswick, her portraits in pastel became very popular. The Acadian museum at the Université de Moncton has four of these portraits in their collection. In 1904, she married judge Alphonse Pierre Garon. The couple settled in Shediac, later moving to Rimouski Rimouski ( ; ) is a city in Quebec, Canada. Rimouski is located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, at the mouth of the Rimouski River. Philomène Daniels
Philomène Austin "Captain Phil" Daniels (September 14, 1843 – October 29, 1929) was a Canadian-born steamboat captain in Vermont. She was the first American woman to be licensed as a pilot and master for steamboat navigation. Of Basque descent, she was born Philomène Ostiguy dit Domingue in Saint-Mathias, Canada East. She moved to Vergennes with her family during the 1850s. In 1862, she married Louis Daniels, Jr., who was also of French-Canadian descent. Daniels and her husband owned and operated the Daniels Boat Line on Lake Champlain and Otter Creek. They started with one vessel, the ''Water Lily'', and eventually expanded their operation to four vessels. Daniels was licensed in April 1877 and began working as a steamboat pilot.
