Philip Burnett Franklin Agee (; January 19, 1935 – January 7, 2008)Will Weissert"Ex-CIA Agent Philip Agee Dead in Cuba" Associated Press (sfgate.com), January 9, 2008. was a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) case officer and writer of the 1975 book, ''Inside the Company: CIA Diary'', detailing his experiences in the CIA. Agee joined the CIA in 1957, and over the following decade had postings in Washington, D.C., Ecuador, Uruguay and Mexico. After resigning from the Agency in 1968, he became a leading opponent of CIA practices. p. 230 A co-founder of the '' CounterSpy'' and '' CovertAction'' series of periodicals, he died in Cuba in January 2008. Early years Agee was born in Takoma Park, Maryland and was raised in Tampa, Florida. Takoma Park is a city in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a suburb of Washington, D.C., Washington, and part of the Washington metropolitan area. Founded in 1883 and incorporated in 1890, Takoma Park, informally called "Azalea City", is a Tree City USA and a nuclear-free zone. A planned commuter suburb, it is situated along the Metropolitan Subdivision, Metropolitan Branch of the historic Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, just northeast of Washington, and it shares a border and history with the adjacent D.C. neighborhood of Takoma (Washington, D.C.), Takoma. It is governed by an elected mayor and six elected councilmembers, who form the city council, and an appointed city manager, under a Council-manager government, council-manager style of government.
