Philippine Basketball Association All-Star Game
The PBA All-Star Game is an exhibition game hosted annually by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), matching the league's star players using various formats. It is the featured event of PBA All-Star Weekend. The All-Star game was first staged at The ULTRA on June 4, 1989. The starting lineup for each squad is selected by a fan ballot, while the reserves are chosen by a vote among the head coaches of the league's teams. If a selected player is injured and cannot participate, the league officials select a replacement. The head coaches of the teams that entered the season's first conference, the Philippine Cup, are chosen as the coaches of the teams in the All-Star Game. The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest continuously professional basketball league existing in the world after the National Basketball Association, NBA,Bartholomew, Rafe. Boy Cabahug
Elmer "Boy" Cabahug (born June 1, 1964 in Cebu City, Philippines) is a retired Filipino professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association and the former head coach of the University of the Visayas Green Lancers varsity team. Amateur career Boy is a third generation representative of the Cabahug clan in basketball, grandfather Atty. Cesar Cabahug was a member of the 1938 National collegiate champions University of Visayas while his father Eduardo Cabahug likewise played for the UV Lancers that were national collegiate champions in 1957. As a high school at the St. Louis school, Boy had his stint as a junior player in the Cebu Catholic Schools Athletic Association (CSAA) during his first and second year in the secondary level. Allan Caidic
Allan Vito Flores Caidic (born June 15, 1963) is a Filipino former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is considered by many to be the greatest shooter the country has ever produced, thus, earning the moniker, ''"The Triggerman"''. He played college hoops at the University of the East before joining the PBA in 1987, where he broke several Philippine and PBA all-time records—including the most points scored in a single game (79 points), the most three-point field goals made in a single game (17 triples; breaking his previous record of 15 triples), the most consecutive freethrows made (76), and the most three-point field goals in a career (1,242 triples; later surpassed by Jimmy Alapag). Cuneta Astrodome
The Cuneta Astrodome is an indoor arena that is located in Pasay, Philippines. Since the 1993 PBA season, it was better known as the home of the Philippine Basketball Association. when it left the PhilSports Arena (that was then known as ULTRA), up until the 1998 PBA season, 1998 and since 2001 PBA season, 2001. Alvin Teng
Alvin L. Teng (born March 4, 1965) is a retired Filipino professional basketball player who spent 14 seasons in the PBA, mostly with the San Miguel Beermen. Collegiate career A native of Davao, he was a latebloomer in basketball, having only started in 1983 while playing for the Rizal Memorial College in his hometown. After a year with the RMC, Alvin enrolled at the Harvardian University in Davao, where he also played for the school team. He soon made it to a selection of Davaoeños which participated in the PABL Founder's Cup. Thus was his first taste of commercial ball-playing in the Big City. While playing for the All-Stars, Alvin was spotted by Arellano team manager and then PABL president Peter Cayco and was promptly recruited to the Flaming Arrows' bench. Alvin Dale Vergara Patrimonio (born November 17, 1966) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player from the Philippine Basketball Association and is the current team manager for the Magnolia Hotshots. Patrimonio holds several PBA records including most consecutive games played (596); third most points scored in history (15,091); fourth most rebounds grabbed in history (more than 6,000) and second-most PBA Most Valuable Player awards (4, tied with Ramon Fernandez). He is also the second player after Bogs Adornado to win back-to-back MVP awards in 1993 and 1994, and also the second player to win three Best Player of the Conference award after Vergel Meneses. San Miguel Beermen
The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with the Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. The Beermen have the most titles with 28 and the most all-time victories with more than 1,200 wins.
