Philippe Paradis (born January 2, 1991) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He spent the duration of his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL). He was drafted 27th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior Paradis was drafted by the Shawinigan Cataractes in the second round, 34th overall in the 2007 QMJHL Draft. In his rookie season with the club, in 2007–08, Paradis played in 45 games, while scoring 11 goals and 23 points. In the playoffs, Paradis was held pointless in three games. In his second year in Shawinigan, Paradis saw his numbers rise, as he scored 19 goals and 50 points in 66 games, which was the sixth highest total on the team. In the playoffs, he earned 12 points in 21 games, as the Cataractes lost to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the seventh game of the President's Cup. Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners.
