Philippe Nguyễn Kim Điền
Philippe Nguyễn Kim Điền was a Vietnamese prelate. He was Archbishop of Huế during the country's period of late 20th-Century wars and eventual reunification. Biography Philippe Nguyễn Kim Điền was born on March 13, 1921, in Long Đức, Vietnam. After being ordained a priest in 1947 and serving as a professor and later rector of the seminary, he joined the Little Brothers of Jesus. After joining the order for sometime, Dien worked as a street cleaner and a rag picker in Saigon. He was appointed Bishop of Cần Thơ in 1960 at the recommendation of the previous bishop and his friend, Paul Nguyễn Văn Bình, who was appointed Archbishop of Saigon. He later became the Apostolic Administrator of Huế and Titular Archbishop of Pario in 1964 after the 1963 South Vietnamese coup d'état left Archbishop Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục unable to return from the Second Vatican Council in Rome. The Most Reverend
The Most Reverend (abbreviated as The Most Revd or The Most Rev) is an honorific style (form of address), style given to certain (primarily Western Christian, Western) Christian clergy and Christian minister, ministers. Trà Vinh Province
Trà Vinh () was a former province in the Mekong Delta region of Southern Vietnam. The capital is Trà Vinh City. Etymology Trà Vang was an old name used for this area, a hinterland with a sparse population. In 1825, the area of Trà Vinh was established by King Minh Mạng into Lạc Hóa district also known as chà-văng or chà-vinh. In 1951, the name Vĩnh Trà appeared, a combination of Vĩnh from Vĩnh Long and Trà from Trà Vinh. The name was changed again from Trà Vinh to Vĩnh Bình province in 1957. In 1976, Cửu Long province came to be by merging Vĩnh Long province and Trà Vinh. The name ''Trà Vinh'' comes from the Khmer name of the area ព្រះត្រពាំង , which means ''Sacred pond'' or ''Buddha's pond''. The Vietnamese transliteration gave ''Trà Vang'' and later ''Trà Vinh''. The Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, commonly known as the or , was the 21st and most recent ecumenical council of the Catholic Church. 1963 South Vietnamese Coup D'état
In November 1963, Leaders of South Vietnam, President Ngô Đình Diệm and the Personalist Labor Revolutionary Party of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) were deposed by a group of CIA-backed Army of the Republic of Vietnam officers who disagreed with Diệm's handling of the Buddhist crisis and the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong threat to South Vietnam. In South Vietnam, the coup was referred to as ''Cách mạng 1-11-63'' ("1 November 1963 Revolution"). The Kennedy administration had been aware of the coup planning, but Cable 243 from the United States Department of State to U.S. Ambassador to South Vietnam Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. stated that it was U.S. policy not to try to stop it. The Archdiocese of Huế () is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese in central Vietnam. The creation of the archdiocese in its present form was declared on 24 November 1960. It covers an area of 12,227 km2 and has been under the leadership of Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, who was previously the Bishop of Thanh Hóa, since 2016. Paul Nguyễn Văn Bình
Paul Nguyễn Văn Bình (September 1, 1910 – July 1, 1995) was a Vietnamese prelate of the Catholic Church. He was the first Archbishop of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) from 1960 until his death in 1995. Biography Paul Bình was born on September 1, 1910, in Saigon, Vietnam. In 1922, he started to study at Sai Gon minor seminary. He was sent to Rome in 1932 to further his studies by Bishop Isidore-Marie-Joseph Dumortier, who was Vicar Apostolic of Saigon. He was ordained a priest on March 27, 1937, at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran in Rome. In 1943, he started teaching at the Saint Joseph Major Seminary in Saigon and was appointed as pastor of Cầu Đất parish in Da Lat in 1948. On September 20, 1955, he was appointed as Vicar Apostolic of Can Tho by Pope Pius XII and was consecrated by Pierre-Martin Ngô Đình Thục, Vicar Apostolic of Vĩnh Long on November 30 the same year at the Notre-Dame Saigon Cathedral.
