Philippe Maillet
Philippe Maillet (born November 7, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for HC Ambrì-Piotta of the National League (NL). Originally undrafted by teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), Maillet has previously played for the Washington Capitals. Early life Maillet was born on November 7, 1992, in Lachenaie, Quebec (now Terrebonne, Quebec) to firefighter Mario Maillet and consultant Line Richard. Playing career Minor Maillet began his youth hockey career with the Collège Esther-Blondin Phénix of the Ligue de hockey Midget AAA du Québec (QMAAA), where he set the franchise record for most assists in a season with 34. His record, which was achieved during the 2008–09 season, stayed until Laurent Dauphin completed the 2011–12 season. 2016 CIS University Cup
The 2016 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (54th Annual) was held March 17–20, 2016 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was the second of two consecutive CIS Championships to be held at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Saint Mary's University was the designated host for this championship as St. Francis Xavier University was the host in 2015 (at the same venue). The St. Francis Xavier X-Men did qualify for this event by winning the AUS Championships. This was the most successful tournament for attendance setting a new record of 43,513. It also proved to be the last Men's University Cup that was branded as a CIS championship. The Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas are the sports teams that represent the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The 2015 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (53rd Annual) was held March 20–23, 2014. It was the first of two consecutive CIS Championships to be held at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax jointly hosted by the St. Francis Xavier University and Saint Mary's University. Each school was a designated 'host' for one of the events; St. Francis Xavier was the 2015 host while Saint Mary's was the host in the second year (2016). U Sports men's ice hockey is the highest level of play of men's ice hockey at the university level under the auspices of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. As these players compete at the university level, they are obligated to follow the rule of standard eligibility of five years. University hockey teams in Canada compete in leagues as part of U Sports, the national governing body for Canadian university athletics.
