Philippe Cornet
Philippe Cornet (born March 28, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for the Kassel Huskies of the German second tier DEL2. Cornet was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career As a youth, Cornet played in the 2003 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Val'd-Or Foreurs minor ice hockey team. Prior to turning professional, Cornet played major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Rimouski Oceanic and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. On May 4, 2010, the Edmonton Oilers signed Cornet to a three-year entry-level contract. During the 2011–12 season, Cornet made his NHL debut on January 31, 2012, skating for the Oilers in a 3-2 home game win over the Colorado Avalanche. Val-d'Or
Val-d'Or (, , ; "Golden Valley" or "Valley of Gold") is a city in Quebec, Canada with a population of 32,752 inhabitants according to the Canada 2021 Census. The city is located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region near La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. History Gold was discovered in the area in 1923. The name of the town is French for "Valley of Gold." While gold is still mined in the area today, base metals, such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) have become increasingly important resources. The ore is usually found in volcanic rocks that were deposited on the sea floor over 2.7 billion years ago. They are referred to as volcanic-hosted (or volcanogenic) massive sulphide deposits ( VMS). Jordan Eberle
Jordan Leslie Eberle (; born May 15, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger and alternate captain for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. During his four-year junior career with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL), he won the CHL Player of the Year Award in 2010, the Doc Seaman Trophy as the scholastic player of the year in 2008 and was a two-time First Team East All-Star in 2008 and 2010. In his second season in the NHL, Eberle was named to the All-Star Game and led the Oilers in goal- and point-scoring. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. The SM-liiga (marketed as just Liiga from 2013 on), (Finnish for ''League'') colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. It is one of the six founding leagues of the Champions Hockey League and currently allocated five spots - the maximum number - based on success in previous editions. It was created in 1975 to replace the SM-sarja, which was fundamentally an amateur league. The SM-liiga is not directly overseen by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association, but the league and association have an agreement of cooperation. Adam Brace
Adam Brace (born 1980, London, England) is a British playwright and director. Brace is the resident associate dramaturg of Soho Theatre in London. His play ''Stovepipe'', performed in promenade, premiered at the HighTide festival in Suffolk before transferring to London for an eight-week run in collaboration with the National Theatre. The play is about corporate soldiers and Brace wrote it after a tour of Jordan where he conducted interviews with men in that job. The Charlotte Checkers are a minor-league professional ice hockey team based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
