Philip Rapp
Philip Rapp (March 26, 1907 – January 23, 1996) was a film and television director and screenwriter. He wrote for Eddie Cantor and, for a brief period, wrote film scripts for Danny Kaye. Rapp is perhaps best known as the creator of Baby Snooks and The Bickersons. He died on January 23, 1996 in Beverly Hills, California. Rapp was a writer, director, and producer, and he directed a popular long-running radio series called ''The Batting Bickersons''. He also introduced the Baby Snooks character for Fanny Brice of the Ziegfeld Follies. Beverly Hills is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. A notable and historic suburb of Greater Los Angeles, it is in a wealthy area immediately southwest of the Hollywood Hills, approximately northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The Inspector General (1949 Film)
''The Inspector General'' is a 1949 American Technicolor musical film, musical comedy film, suggested by the play by Nikolai Gogol. It stars Danny Kaye and was directed by Henry Koster. The film also stars Walter Slezak, Barbara Bates, and Elsa Lanchester. Original music and lyrics are by the associate producer Sylvia Fine, who was married to Danny Kaye, with Johnny Green credited for musical direction and incidental score. Premise The film is loosely based on Nikolai Gogol's play ''The Government Inspector, The Inspector General''. ''My Favorite Martian'' is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from September 29, 1963, to May 1, 1966, for 107 episodes. ''Ziegfeld Follies'' is a 1945 American musical comedy film released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, primarily directed by Vincente Minnelli, with segments directed by Lemuel Ayers, Roy Del Ruth, Robert Lewis, and George Sidney, the film's original director before Minnelli took over. Other directors that are claimed to have made uncredited contributions to the film are Merrill Pye, Norman Taurog, and Charles Walters. He was the son of Philip Rapp, and was the older brother of Paul Rapp, a production manager for film and television. In the late 1950s, Rapp worked with producer Roger Corman as a director on the films ''High School Big Shot'' and ''Battle of Blood Island''. He also wrote for numerous sitcoms including ''McHale's Navy'', ''Bewitched'', and ''Green Acres''. Rapp was a passionate gardener, and was nicknamed "Mr. Mother Earth, Plant Man to the Stars".
