Metropolitan Bishop, Metropolitan Philaret (russian: Митрополит Филарет, be, Мітрапаліт Філарэт, born Kirill Varfolomeyevich Vakhromeev, russian: Кирилл Варфоломеевич Вахромеев; 21 March 1935 in Moscow – 12 January 2021 in Minsk) was the emeritus Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus and the leader of the Belarusian Orthodox Church that is an exarchate, autonomous part of the Russian Orthodox Church. He resigned on 25 December 2013, and was succeeded by Pavel (Ponomaryov), Metropolitan Pavel . Biography Born in 1935 in Moscow, RSFSR, Kirill attended the Moscow Theological Academy in 1954 after spending a year in the seminary. The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, alternatively known as the ''St. Esprit Cathedral'' ( Turkish: ''Saint Esprit Kilisesi''), located on Cumhuriyet Avenue, 127/A, in the quarter of Pangaltı in Şişli district, the former Harbiye, between Taksim Square and Nişantaşı, is one of the principal Catholic churches in Istanbul, Turkey. It is the second largest Roman Catholic church in the city after the Basilica of S. Antonio di Padova on İstiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu. The church was built in Baroque style in 1846 under the direction of the Swiss-Italian architect Giuseppe Fossati and his colleague Julien Hillereau.
