Phil Younghusband
Philip James Younghusband Jr. (born 4 August 1987) is a former professional footballer who played mostly as a striker and sometimes as a midfielder. Younghusband is best known for his performances with the Philippines national team, playing from 2006 to 2019. He served as the captain of the national team from 2014 to 2019 and is the Philippines' most capped player and all-time top goalscorer. He helped the Philippines reach the semi-finals of the 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018 AFF Championships as well as participating in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the national team's first ever appearance in the tournament. Born in Surrey, England, to an English father and Filipino mother, Younghusband joined the youth academy of Chelsea. The 2019 AFC Asian Cup was the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Asia organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The 2018 Copa Paulino Alcantara was the first edition of the Copa Paulino Alcantara, the domestic football cup competition of the Philippines. The competition started on September 1, 2018 and concluded on October 27, 2018, with Kaya–Iloilo winning the inaugural tournament after defeating Davao Aguilas 1–0 in extra time. The United Football League, commonly known as the UFL, was an association football league, replaced by the Philippines Football League, based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, governed by the Football Alliance (FA) in partnership with United Football Clubs Association (UFCA). It was played on a multistage format that culminated in a single-elimination tournament, knockout stage (single elimination). Clubs eligible to compete for the cup were those who played in the United Football League (Philippines), United Football League. Likewise, it was open to all clubs in the Philippines that passed the requirements given by the Football Alliance Group, which organized the competition.
