Phil Mann
Phil John Mann (born 16 October 1953) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played for the Parramatta Eels, as a . At 201 cm (6 ft 7 in) tall, Mann was one of the tallest players to ever play the game. He is the son of former Parramatta Eels player Bruce Mann. Playing career A junior from Hills District, Mann was graded with the Parramatta Eels for the 1973 season, and made his first grade debut for the Eels in the 1974 season. At his most effective when in top stride, Mann was one of the Eels' best players during the series of sudden death play-offs to decide the final five semi-finalists in 1975. At the end of the 1975 season, Mann played in Parramatta's first ever reserve grade premiership team. Neil Hunt (born 21 November 1960) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition for Parramatta with whom he won the 1982 premiership and the Gold Coast. The 1983 NSWRFL season was the 76th season of professional rugby league football in Australia. Fourteen teams competed for the J J Giltinan Shield and Winfield Cup during the season, which culminated in a replay of the previous year's grand final between the Parramatta and Manly-Warringah clubs. During the season, NSWRFL teams also competed for the 1983 KB Cup. 1983 was the final season in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for Sydney-based foundation club Newtown Jets, and the first reduction in the number of teams in the competition since Sydney University’s departure at the end of the 1937 NSWRFL season. 1981 NSWRFL Season
The 1981 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the 74th season of Sydney's professional rugby league football competition, Australia's first. Twelve clubs, including six of 1908's foundation teams and another six from around Sydney competed for the J J Giltinan Shield and WD & HO Wills Cup during the season, which culminated in a grand final between the Parramatta and Newtown clubs. NSWRFL clubs also competed in the 1981 Tooth Cup and players from NSWRFL clubs were selected to represent the New South Wales team. Balmain Tigers
The Balmain Tigers (also known as the Sydney Tigers from 1995–96) are a rugby league club based in the inner-western Sydney suburb of Balmain. They were a founding member of the New South Wales Rugby League and one of the most successful in the history of the premiership, with eleven titles. In 1999 they formed a joint venture club with the Western Suburbs Magpies club to form the Wests Tigers for competition in the National Rugby League (NRL). They no longer field any senior teams in the lower divisions. At the time of the joint venture only South Sydney Rabbitohs and the St George Dragons had won more titles than the Tigers. Peter Wynn
Peter Wynn (born 23 December 1957 in Maitland, New South Wales) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. He played for the Parramatta Eels in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership competition. Playing career He is the older brother of fellow rugby league player Graeme Wynn. His position of choice was in the second row. However, lack of players of sufficient quality at Parramatta often forced Wynn to play in the front row although this was less suited to his very tall, lanky build. Peter Sterling (rugby League Commentator)
Peter Maxwell John Sterling (born 16 June 1960) nicknamed Sterlo, is an Australian former rugby league commentator, television personality and player. He was one of the all-time great halfbacks and a major contributor to Parramatta Eels' dominance of the New South Wales Rugby League premiership in the 1980s. Sterling played eighteen Tests for the Australian national team between 1982 and 1988. He also played in thirteen State of Origins for New South Wales, winning man of the match on four occasions (one of them being the 1987 exhibition match played in the USA). Sterling played in four premiership-winning sides with Parramatta in 1981–1983 and 1986 and has been inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame. Steve Sharp (born 11 September 1957) is an Australian rugby league football administrator and former professional player, who was previously chairman of the Parramatta Eels club, with whom he played and won three premierships in the 1980s. Playing career Sharp started playing in Sydney's New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership for the Parramatta Eels club during the 1979 NSWRFL season. He was selected as one of Parramatta's reserves in the 1981 NSWRFL season's grand final, in which they defeated Newtown to claim their maiden premiership.
