Phelps Anderson
Phelps Anderson is an American politician and businessman serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 66th district, which includes Roswell, New Mexico. Early life Anderson was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, the son of oil magnate Robert Orville Anderson. Career Prior to entering politics, Anderson worked as a businessman, managing his family's investment in oil and real estate. He was first elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1976 and served until 1980. Anderson was an unsuccessful candidate for New Mexico's 2nd congressional district in 2002. He was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 2018 and assumed office on January 15, 2019. Roswell () is a city in, and the County seat, seat of, Chaves County, New Mexico, Chaves County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Chaves County forms the entirety of the List of micropolitan areas in New Mexico, Roswell micropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census it had a population of 48,422, making it the fifth-largest city in New Mexico. New Mexico's 2nd congressional district serves the southern half of New Mexico, including Las Cruces, Roswell, and the southern fourth of Albuquerque. Geographically, it is the fifth-largest district in the nation and the largest to not contain an entire state. It is currently represented by Republican Yvette Herrell.
