Phaphamau is a constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly covering the rural area of Phaphamau in Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Phaphamau is one of five assembly constituencies in the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 254 amongst 403 constituencies. Before 2008 it was Nawabganj Assembly constituency. Delimitation Commission of 2002 abolished Nawabganj Assembly constituency. Allahabad district, officially known as Prayagraj district, is the most populous district of Uttar Pradesh state of India. The district headquarters is Allahabad which was renamed Prayagraj at the same time as the district was renamed. The District is divided into blocks within tehsils. Phulpur Lok Sabha seat, also spelled 'Phoolpur', is one of the 80 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. It lies in Prayagraj district. Phulpur is a historic constituency and two Indian Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and V P Singh have been elected from this constituency. Vikramjeet Maurya ( – 15 December 2022) was an Indian politician who was a member of 17th Legislative Assembly of Phaphamau, Uttar Pradesh of India. He represented the Phaphamau constituency of Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Vikramjeet first won the Assembly election in 1989 on the Janata Dal ticket from Pratappur and in 1996 won as Indian National Congress candidate from Nawabganj Vidhan Sabha (a major part of which now forms Phaphamau). Later, in 1997, he joined the newly formed Loktantrik Congress Party, which was headed by Naresh Agarwal, and became a minister of state for Energy and Excise in the BJP-led government. Vikramjeet submitted his resignation in 2001 after Agarwal fell out with the then Chief Minister Rajnath Singh. Subsequently, Maurya joined the Samajwadi Party with Naresh Agarwal.
