Hermann Johannes Pfannenstiel
Hermann Johannes Pfannenstiel (28 June 1862 – 3 July 1909) was a German gynecologist born in Berlin. In 1885 he received his doctorate in Berlin and afterwards worked as a hospital assistant in Posen. He later moved to Breslau, where in 1896 he became an associate professor. In 1902 he was appointed chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Giessen, and five years later, he attained a similar position at the University of Kiel. From 1891 he was secretary of the German Society for Gynaecology (''Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie''). Beginning in 1896, he was co-editor of the journal ''Archiv für Gynäkologie'' (Archives of Gynaecology). Among his better known publications were works on ovarian pathology, uterine tumors and the formation of carcinomas following ovariotomy. Jackalyne Pfannenstiel
Jackalyne Pfannenstiel (September 7, 1947 – April 26, 2017) served as the United States Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Installations and Environment) from March 5, 2010. until her resignation in July 2012. Biography Jackalyne Pfannenstiel was educated at Clark University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She then attended the University of Hartford, receiving an Master of Arts in Economics. After university, she worked as an economist at the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control. In 1978, she moved to California, joining the California Public Utilities Commission as a senior economist. Lutz Pfannenstiel (born 12 May 1973) is a German former professional football goalkeeper, coach, scout, TV analyst and the current sporting director for St. Louis City SC. He holds the record for the only footballer to play professionally in each of the six recognized continental associations. Max Pfannenstiel
Max Joseph Jakob Pfannenstiel (25 July 1902 – 1 January 1976) was a German geologist, palaeontologist and librarian who spent some years in Turkey due to being classified as a 2nd-degree mixed-Jew during the early part of the Nazi regime. Pfannenstiel was born in Wanzenau, Alsace, to notary Hermann and Maria Reinach Pfannenstiel. The family moved to Mainz where Pfannenstiel studied at the gymnasium graduating in 1921 before studying geology at the University of Heidelberg under Wilhelm Salomon-Calvi and at the University of Breslau under Hans Cloos. He received a doctorate in 1926 from Heidelberg and worked as an assistant to Wilhelm Deecke at the University of Freiburg until 1930. During this period he produce a catalog of fossil from the Upper Rhine. He also examined the geology of the Kaiserstuhl area. Wilhelm Pfannenstiel
Wilhelm Hermann Pfannenstiel (12 February 1890 – 1 November 1982) was a German physician, member of the Nazi Party from 1933, (NSDAP 2828629), and SS officer from 1934, ( SS-Standartenführer, SS-No. 273083). In August 1942 he witnessed, together with Kurt Gerstein, the gassing of Jews in Bełżec extermination camp. He may also share responsibility with other SS officials in criminal medical experimentations on unwilling and uninformed human beings, mainly Jews prisoners in Dachau concentration camp. Life Wilhelm Pfannenstiel was born in Breslau, Lower Silesia, the current city of Wrocław in western Poland. Pfannenstiel Incision
A Pfannenstiel incision , Kerr incision, Pfannenstiel-Kerr incision or pubic incision is a type of abdominal surgical incision that allows access to the abdomen. It is used for gynecologic and orthopedics surgeries, and it is the most common method for performing Caesarian sections today. This incision is also used in Stoppa approach for orthopedics surgeries to treat pelvic fractures. The Pfannenstiel incision offers a large view of the central pelvis but limits exposure to the lateral pelvis and upper abdomen, factors that limit the usefulness of this incision for gynecologic cancer surgery. This incision is commonly called the " bikini line incision". Some common reasons for this surgical access are obstetric delivery and hernia repair. It is often used in preference to other incision types for the sake of aesthetics, because the scar will be hidden by the pubic hair.
