Branko Pešić
Branko Pešić ( sr-Cyrl, Бранко Пешић, ; 1 October 1922 – 4 February 1986) was a Serbian politician in SFR Yugoslavia. Pešić was a member of the Yugoslav Partisans during the Second World War and was the Mayor of Belgrade from 1964 to 1974. He is widely remembered as one of the most popular Belgrade mayors as his decade-long tenure saw the construction and completion of many important projects. Career Pešić was born on 1 October 1922 in Zemun to father Dimitrije "Mita" (1900–1976) and mother Anka (1897–1983). He completed elementary school in Zemun and high school at the Zemun Gymnasium. In February 2012, Vesna Pešić announced she would leave politics after parliamentary elections on 6 May 2012. Biography In the early 1970s Pešić became the member of the ''Intellectuals' Movement for the Defense and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms'', popularly known as the “Belgrade opposition”. In 1982, she was arrested and imprisoned for organizing the protests against the arrest of a group of the University of Belgrade students. Svetislav "Kari" Pešić ( sr-cyrl, Светислав "Кари" Пешић; born August 28, 1949) is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Serbia men's national team. Playing career During his club playing career, Pešić played with Pirot (1964–1967), Partizan (1967–1971), and Bosna (1971–1979). Nikola Pešić was born in Belgrade in 1973. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade with the degree of painting, although he completed his master's degree in sculpture in class of Professor Mrđan Bajić in 1998. Ivan Pešić (born 17 March 1989) is a Croatian handball goalkeeper for HBC Nantes and the Croatian national team. The first few years as a player played Pešić in his hometown Rijeka in RK Zamet and with production license in Croatian second division club RK Senj. He then played for the Hungarian club MKB Veszprém KC, with which he won in the 2008/09 season, league and cup, as well as the Croatian first division club RK Zagreb, with whom he won three times the double. Ivan Pešić (born 6 April 1992) is a Croatian footballer who plays as a left winger for Caspiy. Club career Pešić started his youth career in NK Oluja, the club from his native village of Čista Velika. At the age of 12, he moved to the seaside NK Vodice for two seasons before moving on to the HNK Hajduk Split youth setup. A youth U-19 international, he remained at the club in his first senior year, but featured only in friendlies and a single Croatian Football Cup match, against Jadran Gunja.
