Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Петровић, ;) is a South Slavic language patronymic surname literally meaning ''Peter's son'', equivalent to the English last name of Peterson. In Eastern Slavic naming customs its counterpart is "Petrovich". The surname was notably used by the House of Petrović-Njegoš, and by Karađorđe Petrović. Petrović is the second most frequent surname in Serbia. It is also the 11th most common in Croatia, with 9,614 carriers (2011 census). It is the third most common surname in the Osijek-Baranja County, the fourth most common in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and ninth most common in the City of Zagreb. Aleksandar Milorad Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Александар Петровић; born February 8, 1985) is a Serbian former footballer. Career Born in Belgrade, Petrović began his career in his native country, Serbia when he played for FK BASK. He played three seasons with BASK. During the 2006/07 season, he moved to FK Mladost Lučani and later on played two seasons with Mladost Lučani. He later on moved to FK Rad in the Serbian SuperLiga. Goran Petrović (; 1 July 1961 – 26 January 2024) was a Serbian writer and academic. Biography Goran Petrović was born in Kraljevo, Serbia. He studied Yugoslav and Serbian literature at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology. He received the most prominent award in Serbian literature, the NIN Award, in 2000, for his novel ''Sitničarnica "Kod srećne ruke"''. Before his death, he worked and lived in Belgrade. Dušan Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Душан Петровић, ; born 8 September 1966) is a Serbian former politician, a former long-time member of Democratic Party (Serbia), Democratic Party (DS) and the former Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management between 2011 and 2012 and former Minister of Justice in the Government of Serbia between 2007 and 2008. Draško Petrović, MSc ( sr-cyr, Драшко Петровић; born 1965 in Belgrade) is a Serbian politician and businessman. He graduated from the University of Belgrade's Law School before going on to obtain a master's degree from the Faculty of Transport at the same university. In May 1990 he became one of the founding members of the Democratic Party's (DS) Youth Wing. Danilo I Petrović-Njegoš ( sr-cyr, Данило I Петровић-Његош; 25 May 1826 – 13 August 1860) was the ruling Prince of Montenegro from 1851 to 1860. The beginning of his reign marked the transition of Montenegro from a traditional theocratic form of government (Prince-Bishopric) into a secular Principality.
