Abune Petros
Abune Petros (; born Haile Maryam; 1882 – 29 July 1936) was an Ethiopian bishop and martyr, who was known for execution by firearm in 1936 by the Fascist Italians for publicly condemning colonialism, invasion and massacre. Early life Abune Petros was born in Fiche, north Addis Ababa. He grew up in a peasant family and was educated from elementary school to the highest stage of ecclesiastical education at the monastery of Debre Libanos, where he took vows in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and became a monk in 1916. Career He started his teaching career at the monastery of Meskabe Kedusan in Amhara Sayint in Wollo Province, and later he moved to Debre-Menkerat monastery in Welayta, South Ethiopia, where he was authorized by the church as the teacher in charge. In 1924 he was appointed as a professor at the monastery church of Mary, on an island in Lake Zeway, southern Ethiopia. Amanal Petros (born 17 May 1995) is a German long-distance runner and , the national record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:06:27h, set at the 2021 Valencia Marathon. Career He won the bronze medal in the men's 5000 metres at the 2015 German Athletics Championships held in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2017, he won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 metres at the European Athletics U23 Championships held in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He also competed in the men's 5000 metres event where he finished in 4th place. In July 2019, he competed in the men's event at the European 10,000m Cup held in London, United Kingdom. A few months later, he won the men's half marathon at the Cologne Marathon in Cologne, Germany. Beyene Petros
Beyene Petros is a professor of Biology at Addis Ababa University and a former member of the Ethiopian House of People's Representatives, representing an electoral district in Badawacho of Hadiya Zone. He is currently the chairman of one of the largest opposition political parties in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Federal Democratic Forum Medrek. Personal life Beyene was born on March 11, 1950 in Hadiya Zone, Hadiya, Ethiopia. He attended elementary and high school at local schools in southern Ethiopia. He received his BSc from Addis Ababa University, MS from University of Wisconsin and Ph.D. from Tulane University all in Biology. Hanna Petros
Hanna Petros ( syr, ܚܢܐ ܦܛܪܘܣ, ar, حنا بطرس), was an Iraqi Chaldean composer and a scholar. He wrote numerous books and treatises on oriental music, Iraqi Maqams and Syriac hymnody. He also established a renowned conservatory in Baghdad. Life Hanna Petros was an ethnic Chaldean, born to a Chaldean Catholic family in Mosul in 1896. After finishing preparatory school, he studied oriental music at the hands of an Ottoman army officer from 1914 to 1918 and was shortly employed at the Ottoman military band in 1918. He subsequently worked as an instructor for scouting groups in Mosul in 1921. Later in 1924 he was asked to compose music for the Iraqi army's marching bands. In 1936 he was asked to establish the Baghdad Conservatory which quickly drew musicians who gained fame such as Jamil Bashir and later his brother Munir Bashir.
