Petron Tri-Activ Spikers
The Petron Blaze Spikers were a professional women's volleyball team that played in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) from 2013 to 2020. After the cancellation of the 2020 season of the PSL due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the team took a leave of absence from the league and released all its players. The team was owned by Petron Corporation. The company's involvement in volleyball began in 2002 when it established the Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament. Team history Petron became the first team to sweep a PSL tournament with a 13–0 record and claim the 2015 All-Filipino championship, its second consecutive PSL title. At their stint in the 2015 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship in Ha Nam, Vietnam, the team finished at 8th place with only one game won out of six matches played. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas (born February 29, 1988) is a Filipina professional volleyball player. She was a former member and team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses, and a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She led the España-based squad to its 16th and, as of 2018, latest championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) league. She was a Shakey's V-League (SVL) three-time Finals and two-time Season Most Valuable Player. 2020 PSL Grand Prix Conference
The 2020 PSL season was the eighth season of the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) which began on February 29, 2020 with the 2020 Grand Prix Conference. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the end of the season with the Grand Prix being the only conference held. The Grand Prix Conference prematurely ended on March 23, 2020 after the PSL indefinitely postponed games. Prior to the suspension, its last played game day March 10, 2020 was held behind closed doors. The PSL attempted to resume play through the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, an invitational beach volleyball tournament open to non-PSL teams in November in Subic. However the plan was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions anticipated until the end of the year. The PSL plans to hold the beach tournament sometime in February 2021.
