Petroleros De Cabimas
The Petroleros de Cabimas was a baseball club that played from 1991 through 1995 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. The Petroleros joined the league as an expansion team in the Western Division and played its home games at Estadio Víctor Davalillo in Cabimas, a town on the shore of Maracaibo Lake in Zulia State. The Petroleros performed poorly during their four seasons in the league, always ending last in the four-team Western Division, and never reached the playoffs. The Cabimas team withdrew in 1995 and was replaced by the Pastora de Occidente in the 1995–1996 tournament. The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League or Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional (LVBP) is the professional baseball league in Venezuela. The league's champion takes part in the Caribbean Series each year. History Early years Baseball exploded in Venezuela in 1941, following the world championship in Havana. Jeffrey Howard Cirillo (born September 23, 1969) is an American former third baseman in Major League Baseball. In a 14-season career, Cirillo was a .296 hitter with 112 home runs and 727 RBI in 1617 games. He was named an All-Star in and . Matt Maysey
Matthew Samuel Maysey (born January 8, 1967) is a Canadian former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for two seasons. He pitched two games for the Montreal Expos in 1992 and 23 games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1993. Maysey was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 7th round of the 1985 MLB draft from Alief Hastings High School in Houston, Texas. Scott Francis May (born November 11, 1961) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. May was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. John Massarelli
John David Massarelli (born January 23, 1966) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He played one season in the Taiwan Major League, ten seasons in Minor League Baseball, and later was a minor-league manager. Career Prior to playing professionally, he attended Central Catholic High School and the University of Akron. Massarelli was drafted by the Houston Astros in the eighth round of the 1987 Major League Baseball draft. He played in their system until 1993, making the Florida State League All-Star team in 1990. From 1994 to 1995, he played in the Florida Marlins system. He spent time in the Cleveland Indians system in 1995 as well and in 1996, he played in the San Diego Padres system. John William Johnstone (born November 25, 1968) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Career Minor leagues Johnstone was chosen in the 20th round of the 1987 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets. He joined the Kingsport Mets in the rookie-level Appalachian League for the remainder of the season after his selection, and went 1-1 with a 7.45 ERA with a 2.14 WHIP over 17 games.
