Carlotta Petrina
Carlotta K. Petrina (September 6, 1901 – December 11, 1997) was an American illustrator and printer, awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1933 for her illustrations to accompany John Milton's ''Paradise Lost''. Early life and education Charlotte F. Kennedy was born in Kingston, New York, the daughter of Gilbert F. Kennedy (a lawyer) and Helen McCormick Kennedy (an illustrator). She was educated at the Art Students League and at Cooper Union in the 1920s. Career Petrina won a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1933 (postponed until 1934) to do lithography in Paris. Her "beautiful but heartbreaking" illustrations for John Milton's ''Paradise Lost'' were published in 1936. The artist used herself as a model for Eve, and her late husband as the model for Adam, lending a particular intimacy and poignancy to the images. Nicola Petrina
Nicola Petrina (13 November 1861 – 28 December 1908) was an Italian socialist and politician from Sicily. He was one of the national leaders of the Fasci Siciliani (Sicilian Leagues) a popular movement of democratic and socialist inspiration from 1891 to 1894. Life Nicola was born on 13 November 1861 in Randazzo, Italy. Together with the anarchist Giovanni Noè, he set up the first ''Fascio dei Lavoratori'' in Messina on 18 March 1889, but the organisation remained dormant after the arrest of Petrina in July of that year. He was not released until 1892 when many more Fasci had been set up in Sicily. Another reason why the ''Fascio'' of Messina – formed after the example of the ''Fasci operai'' orkers leaguesconstituted in Central and North Italy from 1871 – initially did not develop was that it brought together not individual workers but the workers' associations of the city, which retained their independence, their status and economic orientation.Scolaro, ''Il movimento ... Stipe Petrina (born 5 October 1954) is a Croatian politician serving his sixth term as Mayor of Primošten. He is known for his controversial public appearances and statements, and has been described as enfant terrible of Croatian politics. Biography He was born in Primošten. After finishing primary school in 1969 in Primošten, he went to Zagreb to study engineering, graduating high school in 1974. In the period 1976-1990 he worked as a seaman in various domestic and foreign shipping companies. In January 1990 he organized the first democratic elections in the local community of Primošten, becoming its secretary. He is a volunteer and a veteran of the Croatian War of Independence, retiring in 1995.
