Petr Svoboda (track Athlete)
Petr Svoboda (; born 10 October 1984 in Třebíč, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech track and field athlete, competing in the sprint hurdles. He currently holds national records in both 110 metres hurdles (13.27, 2010) and 60 metres hurdles (7.44, 2010). On 6 March he won a bronze medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Torino. Biography After breaking the national record for the 110m hurdles, he went to the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona later that year as one of the favourites. However, the gold went to Andy Turner as Svoboda, having led with 30 metres to go, collided badly with a hurdle, and went on to finish in a disappointing 6th place. On 4 March 2011, Svoboda won the gold medal in the 60m hurdles at the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships. 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was held between 12 and 14 March at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar. The championships was the first of six IAAF World Athletics Series events to take place in 2010. Bidding and organisation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the championships. Jamaica
Jamaica (; ) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola). Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. Jiřina Ptáčníková
Jiřina Kudličková, née Ptáčníková (; born 20 May 1986) is a former Czech pole vaulter. She won the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki and the 2014 World Indoor Championships. Biography She is the daughter of the Czech sprinter František Ptáčník. Ptáčníková achieved a personal best (indoor) of 4.70 metres in Donetsk in 2012. This was a Czech record. She improved to 4.71 m in 2014, which was also a Czech record. She also achieved outdoor personal best of 4.76 metres in Plzeň in September 2013. Pole vaulting, also known as pole jumping, is a track and field event in which an athlete uses a long and flexible pole, usually made from fiberglass or carbon fiber, as an aid to jump over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the Mycenaean Greeks, Minoan Greeks and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and since 2000 for women. It is typically classified as one of the four major jumping events in athletics, alongside the high jump, long jump and triple jump. It is unusual among track and field sports in that it requires a significant amount of specialised equipment in order to participate, even at a basic level. Garfield Darien (born 22 December 1987) is a French track and field athlete who specialises in the 110 metres hurdles. Born in Lyon, Darien made his first international appearances as a junior, finishing in seventh at the 2004 World Junior Championships in Athletics and becoming the 110 m hurdles champion at the 2005 European Athletics Junior Championships. He set a personal best of 13.73 seconds that year, but competed infrequently over the following two years. 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, France, from 4 to 6 March 2011. 577 athletes representing 46 countries competed at the championships. Twenty-six track and field events were contested, with the events programme divided equally between the genders. Russia topped the medal table, having won the most gold medals (six), as well as having gained the greatest total with fifteen. Andy Turner (athlete)
Andrew Steven Turner (born 19 September 1980) is an English bodybuilder and retired track and field athlete who specialised in the 110 metres hurdles and occasionally competed in the 100 and 200 metres sprints as well as long jump. At the 110 m hurdles, he is the 2011 World Championship bronze medallist, the 2010 European Champion and the 2010 Commonwealth Champion. Also in 2010, he broke the automatically timed world record in the 200 metres hurdles. He was coached by Lloyd Cowan. Early life Turner was born in Hucknall, Nottingham, England and educated at Nottingham High School. Career Andy Turner competed at the 2004 Athens Olympics, but failed to progress beyond the heats.
