Petr Samoylenko
Petr Samoylenko (born February 7, 1977) is a retired Russian professional basketball player. At a height of 6 ft 1 in (1.87 m) tall, and a weight of 190 pounds (86 kg), he played at the point guard position. He was best known throughout his career for being a defensive specialist. Professional career Samoylenko played professionally with Samara, UNICS Kazan, Dynamo Moscow, and Spartak Primorye. Russian national team Samoylenko was a long-time member of the senior Russian national basketball team. With Russia's senior national team, he played at the following tournaments: the EuroBasket 2001, the EuroBasket 2003, the EuroBasket 2005, the EuroBasket 2007, and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Uchkuduk
Uchquduq (sometimes spelled as Uchkuduk, uz, Üçquduq; russian: Учкуду́к) is a city in the north of Navoiy Region, Uzbekistan. It is the seat of Uchquduq District. The city's name means "three draw-wells" in Uzbek. It is located at , at an altitude of 193 meters in the middle of the Kyzyl Kum Desert. Its population is 26,800 (2016). History Uchkuduk was founded in 1958, after a small prospecting party found deposits of uranium ore. In the late 1960s, the development of open pit and underground mining led to the rapid growth of the settlement, with workers, engineers and technicians from all over the Soviet Union. It was elevated to city status in 1978. Until 1979, Uchkuduk had the status of a " closed secret city," as it supplied much of the raw material for nuclear weapons in the Soviet military arsenal. Russian National Basketball Team
The Russia men's national basketball team (russian: национа́льная сбо́рная Росси́и по баскетболу, natsionalnaya sbornaya rossii po basketbolu) represents Russia in international basketball competition. They are organized and run by the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF). The team came into existence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and its national team. In the post-Soviet era, the Russia national team consisting of Soviet players under the guidance of Sergei Belov won the silver medal at EuroBasket 1993. It also won silver at the World Cup in consecutive appearances in 1994 and 1998. However, Belov's departure saw Russia face multiple disappointments, until David Blatt took over as head coach. The Russian Professional Basketball Championship is the top-tier level men's professional club basketball competition in the country of Russia. Over the years, there have been 3 different incarnations of the Russian Basketball Championship. VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since VTB United League 2013–14, 2013, it is the Russian basketball league system, first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named list of Russian basketball champions, Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. In 2008 PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow won VTB United League Promo-Cup, but this competition does not count as official VTB title. The men's basketball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, began on 10 August and ended on 24 August, when the United States defeated Spain 118–107 for the gold medal.
